Aftermarket steering wheel Issues to be aware of

So I installed a OMP Steering wheel on my 07 Cayman and now I am having all kinds of warning light issues PSM,ABS and TPC .after days of talking to service techs and online forums it comes down to this.

The PSM is hooked into the factory steering wheel ,if the PSM and air bag system are not working properly the system goes crazy with electrical problems as I am having them all

I chose to purchase a NRG HUB and Quick release to save $150.00 over the Works Bell HUB and Quick release and just de-activate the air bag light with the professional version of the Durametrics software Cheepskate! Me !!

THIS WONT WORK... If anyone knows how I can solve this issue please let me know before I have to sell a used NRG and Quick Release on E-bay for pennies ,these are NON returnable Items

The service tech in town told me I need a new colum spring to make this work ? I also read about people jimmy rigging a risistor in there so the air bag system is flowing ?

PLEASE anyone that is considering using a AM steering wheel buy the WORKS BELL HUB !!
IT comes with a feature that the air bag unit plugs in to so you dont have any of these issues .

How does the Works Bell unit differ from the NRG unit? I've actually owned both on different vehicles. The Works Bell is of nice quality and has a better mechanism, but the electronics would be from a different source.

You can try to place a resistor to complete the circuit so your vehicle "thinks" the airbag is connected. If you're not too familiar with the resistors, they can usually be found from a variety of online sources.

I think your tech was also referring to the clockspring?

I think the NRG was made decently, but compared to the Works Bell units - the release mechanism and feel was a bit better.

Here's what I did on my old Subaru:

You can find the resistor packs at your local Radio Shack for a fraction of the cost. Grab your trusty multi-meter and check for continuity. That's how I figured it out.

Good luck!

The VAG cars should have similar needs like the Porsche! That might work!

Here are pics of them

You are going to bend it like this:

Now, I don't remember if the conector has 2 holes (as in the pic posted by mod bargain) or 4, if it has 4 then take a pic to refresh my memory, otherwise just insert the resistor and u can use tape to keep it in place.

Here is a photo of what it looks like .
2 holes on each connector 1 yellow plug and 1 green plug that use to plug in the back of the airbag unit just as modforbargains pictures showed and there are 2 loose wires that use to hook in to that copper looking ring around the inside of the airbag unit(see second picture) dont know what that is ? .
so this is what I have
1.yellow plug
2.green plug
2. two loose wires
do I need to install resistors in both of the colored plugs ?
wonder if the to loose wires are the horn ?
Thanks so much ,REALLY!! appreciated
