370Z or Boxster S?
I currently have a 370Z and while it’s a great car with lots of power and excellent handling I’m not sure it compares on a “1 to 1” level with the Porsche.
The Z is cheaper up front and also when it comes to maintenance but having done driving comparisons against a Cayman (not S) there is a distinct level of refinement that comes with the purchase price of a Porsche. There are things the Z may do as well on paper but in practice it felt rougher and overall less refined than the Porsche. I suppose this is to be expected somewhat and I would imagine that the same would be true for Boxster S when compared to the Z.
No doubt about it the Z is an excellent buy for the money. It is great to look at, well laid out and comfortable on the inside, and overall is a good turning and fast (very fast for the $$$) car chalked full of some nice features... but even with as much as I like my Z I still find myself looking for a nice Cayman or Cayman S.
With all that said, I would have to agree with what djantlive said and say the Z may be worth the experience especially considering that you’ve already had a Cayman.
370z coupe VS. convertible... coupe for me... the convertible just doesn’t look right to my eyes.
The 7AT is nice and does a very good job of letting the driver have control over the gear changes without messing with a clutch pedal. The 6MT is a good gearbox but not even remotely as nice a the manual of the Porsche. If I had it to do over again I would probably buy the 7AT.

Hey dude, I lived in Taipei for a few years and moved back to LA 5 years ago. I think its a no brainer that you should pick the Porsche. With Taipei's lousy traffic why would you want the Z?
I've seen some pretty sick rides when I lived there. There was always that Red Ferrari with the 355 plate in front of Luxy all the damn time!

+1
Ugggh... you HAD to clue him in?
