Smile Boxster S or Spyder

Hey Folks,

I have a 2007 TT 6 speed. Thinking to trade in a Boxster S or Spyder. I missed my 06 CS tip handling. I never owned an open top in my life before. I always want a PDK but I will be missing so much HP and TQ. Is this worth it? Or wait til 2012 for a brand new 988?

Have you driven Boxster S or Spyder?

I don't like the cramp feel of either. Coming from a 911, it felt weird not having any space behind me. The Boxster/Spyder also felt less planted compared to the 911.

What don't you like about your turbo? It's more planted compared to C2S. Maybe you like a more tossable car? If so, I'd suggest GT3.

I don't like PDK. It is smoother than the tip. Fast shifting but too smooth for me.

I had a cayman s before. Yes it feels bad without having rear seats. I do feel very cramp in the CS. I love PDK. I guess I want an open top lol. Supposedly the CS handling is better than a boxster. Turbo is great, I wouldn't want a stick anymore. Turbo might be my keeper. GT3 nah, Taiwan doesn't have the environment for such a great car.

Ah, didn't realize your are in TW. In that case, PDK makes every sense.

Is this your only car? If you have a 2nd car, I think spyder gets the nod. It looks better and will hold value better. If it's the only car, the Boxster S has a real top with a touch of a button. The top comes in handy on those hot and pouring days.

Unless you live in the country go spyder? I would personally go spyder (looks better) if you can bare taking off and on the top since it'll be more rare even if you add the weight (a/c and PDK) back in.

If you're taking a hot date in the city the motorize top would probably work better. You'll look silly taking and putting the top on. Just my opinion.

the new boxster is supposed to be quite a jump from the current model - more so than the the 911

I am a current boxster spyder owner, and I have owned the GT3 turbo, and C4S.The spyder is is FAR more planted than the CS or Turbo, rivaling the GT3. It IS missing some HP, which can be added if you really have to have it.

The PDK with paddles is a wild ride. You will not miss the old tip, believe me.

I drive my C4S as a daily driver, but it doesnt hold a candle to the way the sPYDER DRIVES...not to mention the way the thing looks

oF COURSE, THIS IS JUST MU OPINION.

Oh yeah...no-one says you look "silly" when you do anything is a porsche"

Hey Mikegee

do you know why spyder feels more planted than c4s or turbo? Is it lower center of gravity or suspension setup? I would have thought the awd on the c4s and turbo makes them more balanced.

well..the mid-engine has a lot to do with it, and the stiffer suspension setup for the spyder makes it seem more planted. it drives "almost" as my gt3. IMO, 50 more hp would really do it best
