Which to buy, 05 S or 06 S ? Down to two choices...

Looking for what will be my 4th Boxster. It will be used as a fair weather DD but not abused, etc.

Choice #1 is an 05 S with 20K miles, usual options, bose, xenon, heated seats, sport package, colored crests. It was a trade in at a non Porsche dealer. $27000 will do it

Choice #2 is an 06 S with 10K miles, a few more options, bose, xenon, heated seats, sports package, colored crests, 19" wheels, sport shifter and aftermarket exhaust. Stock exhaust will come with the car. The car has been tracked 4x for approx 150 miles. Asking $34,700.

I like the options on the 06 but it's $7000 more as of right now. Both cars would have a PPI performed before I bought the car.

Any opinions on these two? I don't expect the 06 to come down to $27K but $34K is just too much...

Both seem a bit expensive.

19" rims look nice, but just make for more expensive tires, but the sport shifter is a nice feature in the '06. Is that one for sale at a p-car dealership? Do you think they will go under 30K?

I don't think you will go wrong with the 05 if it passes inspection, you like it and you can afford it.

The 05 S is at a non-Pcar dealership and the 06 S is a private sale. The 05 S has been negotiated to $26,900. I made a sub $30,000 offer to the 06 and I hope to hear back from him tonight.

Are you neutral about color or do you prefer one of them to the other?

After negotiating the 06 S is $5000 more than the 05 S. I can't justify that much of a difference in price.

Both cars are nearly identical, blk/blk. 06 has 19" wheels...

John, I knew it was only a matter of time!

Go for #1. 20k miles is still very low for an '05, and use the extra $5k for sales tax, Fabspeed exhaust , and a short shifter. You'll still have change to spare!

Look forward to hearing.

Go with the '05 as you can't justify the difference in price. $5k is money well spent on somthing else like mods.

Bought the 05 S. I had pretty much the exact car 12 months ago except with 16K miles, bought and sold it for $31400. This 05 S I bought for $26,500. That's ALOT of car for the money. I hope the mod bug does not get to me, maybe stereo upgrade but I know that is not so easy to do in Pcars. This will be my fair weather daily driver so I doubt any exhaust mods will be done, etc. Psyched to get the car...hopefully Sunday or early next week.

It always starts out with the best of intentions . . . I've said that to myself many time but I just can't seem to leave anything alone. Great choice on the car. Enjoy it.
