I think many people refer to the Boxster as fake due the price it has for the Hp offered. Now days there are tons of Cars making almost or more HP for half the price. Now if you look just at HP numbers you would think is fake, but it's all about the package.
Interior design, Handling and the small details that make the car a beautiful piece of machinery. Heritage is one great part of it.
If GOD permits that will be my next car.
So is NSX a fake Acura cuz of the hp for the price isn't all that great... Just curious.

I am going to schedule a test drive soon to see what I think of this car.

Personally, I think it's more of a pricing/positioning thing than a HP thing--or more specifically that the hp is one of the positioning tools. Whatever the cheapest Porsche is gets sniffed at by the upper crust level customers. I've not heard from mag editors, test drivers or racers that an entry level Porsche was anything but a great drive, ever.

Heck Alan Johnson's book "Driving in Competition" is one of the mainstays of high performance driving education, he's a Porsche icon, and guess what?....He's depicted racing with Richy Ginther in a...drum roll.....914.

As for the NSX, it gets more respect than it's HP numbers show because it was the one of the first modern supercars to NOT come from Europe, it looked good, it was priced for those of means, handled like a champ, sounded like a racecar, and it was produced in small enough numbers to develop a little bit of mystique. Remember at the beginning?...The guys that were driving them are the same ones who got F360's when they came out. If the HSC concept transitions to the next new ("really" new, not just facelifted) NSX, it'll happen all over again.

Porsche purposely kept power down (from the same block the 911 uses) in the Boxster so it wouldn't canibalize 911 sales, and they're doing the same thing with the 987. Had the powerplant treatments been reversed and pricing as well, the 911 would've been the older sister that less and less people would want to sleep with, albeit appealing to those that like the shape and the heritage--and the Boxster would've been the entre to a new direction of mid-engine superiority in Porsche sportscars (with CGT at the top). As it is now, the Boxster continues to advance, now with the Cayman, and it'll be interesting to see what happens with the 911 in 5 years. I for one hope they keep both somehow. There'll always be a market for both, always be an eye that loves one shape over the other, always an argument which drives better.

This is all just my opinion, some will call it BS, and that's okay.

I have a 911 because I LOVE the shape, always have since I was a little turd (yes, that implies that now, I'm a big turd ). But I also love the mid-engine 550, only discovered once I started to really learn about sportscars and their history. Before this 911, I almost bought a highly upgraded Boxster awhile back (CF body, 996 motor, coil-overs, etc), didn't only because it had too many stories behind it and I felt I'd need to completely dismantle it and re-build and didn't want another "project". I've driven several Boxsters, raced against them on track (in a 968--another "poor man's Porsche" hee-hee), have friends who own and track them, and it's a simply great overall car. I'll get a 987S used and mod it down the road for sure...or a Cayman! I think there are some interesting things waiting around the corner.

Damn this is a lonnnng reply, sorry.

I don't think the acura NSX nor the Boxster are fake, but many people do because of the relative low HP for the Price to Hp ratio.

I am never bothered with these silly comments by people.
If I valued their opinion, i would surely be no where near where i am.
