Have had a few cars 986, 987 S, 997 S Cab. Having some experiences I can say the car is amazing! I would take the 981 S over the 997 S cab any day of the week. The PDK is sick and sports chrono is worth every penny. Silver wasn't my 1st choice but they made me more than very fair offer...so I brought it home!

Since you've owned the 986 and 987. How does the steering in the 981 feel compare to those two? I know that reviews have stated that the electric steering does not have the road feel of the hydraulic steering, what's your experience with the steering switch?

I got to drive the boxster after id already ordered my 991 cab. I didnt drive them back to back and its been months since i drove the 991 last but i think i enjoyed the 981 more.

I want the 991 to be a GT car but if i wanted a more sporty/track car if go for the 981. I have my 1M for the track, but this 981 is very tempting.

I had a 987 before I got the 981. I think the fuss about the steering is silly and over-stated. I doubt if most, if any, drivers could have told the difference if they were not told beforehand. The 981 steering is very precise and has very good road feel. The steering wheel does not jump as much on a hard bump - which is good! Turn in is amazing and hitting an apex is easier than ever. If anything, I prefer it to the old system.

I agree to that. I find the steering great, very precise and responsive.

All this talk about the electric steering appears to be an internet favourite, debated back and forth among people who hasn't even driven a 981. Or made any valid back-to-back comparison to a 987.

Since the electric steering talk started when the 991 came out, every journalist testing the 981 had to ake a comment about the new steering, even if they didn't have anything intelligent to say about it. They were just expected to comment it.

If Porsche wouldn't have told us that they changed the system, I doubt I would have noticed when I switched from my old 987 to the 981...
