981 headers with PSE exhaust

The PSE (IMO) sounds fantastic for a stock setup. I wouldn't mind it to be a tad louder when turning on the PSE.

My question is simple. If I were to add headers, how "loud" would the system be with the PSE on and PSE off?

Would it be safe to say that if I added headers, the sound with the PSE off would be equivalent to a stock 981 with the PSE on? (if that made sense?)

Thoughts?

Thanks,

Mark

Hey Mark!

I think your pse, with our catted street headers will sound a little louder than your pse open all the time, or our mufflers alone. I will tell you this, the power and sound difference was just incredible!

How loud do you think it would be with the PSE turned off?

Thanks,

Mark

These are hard questions to answer as sound is subjective and I haven't heard a pse in person... With that being said it should be really manageable and civilized with the pse closed, maybe somewhere in between pse open and closed (hope that makes sense)

Have you done any dyno runs on a 981S with and without PSE and against your system?

I'd sure like to see if there were any gains or at least hear sound clips of a PSE system with headers.

Thanks,

Mark

Mark pardon my intrusion. But wouldn't you lose your warranty if you modded the car as porsche has zero tolerance policy in my country for modifications.

The gains in HP and Torque is quite exciting though.

Yes and no....

Here's the deal. The manufacturer cannot deny warranty on something that is defective unless they can prove that your modification is a direct cause of it.

Replacing a header (for instance) and not tuning it therefore allowing it to run lean and cause a problem would be grounds for a denial... And based on previous experience, it would not surprise me if they would try to revoke any warranty claims on the entire drivetrain.

Anyway, I'm not worried, I'm more concerned I'll lose my "silent" mode with the PSE turned off.

believe it or not we have a good amount of Porsche dealers selling and installing our parts!

good explanation! to anyone interested, look up the Magnuson-Moss warranty act - it explains everything.
