Eric!! Hey bud, it's Mark, didn't know you were here. (found out later and didn't associate you and the "bumper guy" they were referring to...lol)

Hope things are going well.

I'm officially a P car owner, we'll talk soon.

I'd love to attend but my brand new 981 is back in the shop for the 7th time...

Hope to get it back next week.

Hey Mark, what's going on with the 981

Long time. Hope you are ok. Sorry to hear about the car. Been driving mostly weekends in mine, and aside from the thing being too quiet, it's been a dream. Have about 3k miles to date. What are the issues challenging you?

Please do not tell Mark about the grand, trouble-free miles you've been having... His has been in-and-out of the dealership for repeated electric handbrake failures among others... which has not seemed to have happened to anyone else..... AT ALL.

I'm definitely pulling for Mark and hope that he can get the gremlin worked out AT LAST... If not, to be honest I do wonder what they'll think of the mods he's done as far as "taking back" is concerned...

Orange Crush

Mark,
Just read the subsequent posts through which you articulated your problems. Sorry to hear that you were struggling after so patiently waiting for your car. It must be disheartening. I hope the replaced part works and that you enjoy it as much as I have been mine. Much luck to you.

Stephen,

I appreciate it but the "replaced" part didn't work either. The car is back at the shop now and tomorrow will make 10 more days.

Supposedly they're replacing a wire that leads to the control module for the parking brake. The problem is the light doesn't come on for about 1000-1200 miles so I won't know immediately if it fixed the problem. The light was coming on every 25-30 miles and after I sprayed brake part cleaner in the connection (because I was making sure there was no fluid from yet another problem... leaking brake hose right next to the connection of the parking brake connection)

After I sprayed the cleaner in there and blew it out, the light only comes on every 1000'ish miles. (which about a week to a week and a half for me)

We'll see....

Sorry, let's not derail Eric's thread... this thread was about painting the vent pieces... back to our originally scheduled post.

I am wondering if Bumper Plug can offer colored plastic key parts for recent Porsche models....

https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...y-porsche.html

I think I can disassemble and replace the colored plastic parts easily, but I do not want to do the painting part.

I would prefer kind of unpainted LEGO quality colored plastics so that I won't have to worry about paint chipping, but high quality pre-painted plastic kit is still ok. I want 2 keys in white color, but there is no way I am paying $700 to Porsche for painting them. (and having to keep 2 dull extra keys!)

Two plastic parts needed per key and it seems very simple.

That looks cool. I wasn't going to do mine but after seeing your pic, I think it's time.

Great idea!

I'm sure if you send the parts to Eric, he can do them easily.... send him a PM.

I am now thinking I can just have it painted locally.... or even bother my DIY neighbor...

But I am wondering if this kind of part kit make sense...

Once I've done disassembling, I guess I may change the color of the key occasionally...

I may even get a Red one for my wife... and yellow or silver for me!

(remember the old Gucci watch 20 years ago?)
