My first Porsche! 2010 Boxster S, 6 speed. Need advice!

Hey guys, I recently purchased my new baby this month and absolutely love it! I'm looking to get advice for mods as I'm new to Porsche in general. Anything would help!

Looks great. Clear bra is nice unless you like lots of stone chips. Mods depend on your budget and desires (performance, cosmetic, etc.). Most Porsches are a bit quiet, so enhancing the sound is desired by many. Does your car have PSE (sport exhaust)? If you're looking for cosmetic enhancements, check out Suncoastparts.com. There you'll find Porsche parts at discounted prices. You can change about anything. Porsche guards red seat belts would really set off your interior, as would the Porsche Design steering wheel and shift **** in alcantara.

Oh, and get rid of the license plate frame once you get your tag!

I lived in Vegas from 2009 to 2011. Looks like you're at Town Square?

Clear (front) side markers is the usual first mod. Very inexpensive, quick to replace yourself, and it gets rid of the ugly amber front markers. Join the Porsche Club of America (PCA.org) and you'll get discounts at the dealer on ALL parts and labor. It'll pay for itself with every oil change, etc.

Congrats and the car looks nice. Go for the clear side-markers as Steve pointed out... PCA members not only get discounts on parts (depending on participating dealers), but you get the national magazine every 2 mos and also local driving & social events. I suggest trying out autox in the car and maybe spend a few hundred bux to give DE a try. Be warned, they both can be very addictive... but they will let you learn and explore limits of you and your BS in a controlled & safe environment.

Is the car dark blue or black?

Enjoy!

Dark blue! Awesome I love autox.

I had a c63 AMG that I traded to get this car for specifically to track it!

Only mod I did to my new 08 Cayman S was to switch the side markers from orange to white and a Porsche tech removed the baffle from the engine air intake opening.

Oh, no mods to my 02 Boxster and none to my 996 Turbo save when the shifter failed while the car was under CPO warranty at a Porsche tech's suggestion I had a 997 shifter installed. Not as aggressive a shifter as a full on short shifter but a step up from the stock shifter.

Khanman Congrats on the purchase, it looks simply stunning As others have already mentioned get a clear bra installed sooner then later and get some Euro Clear Side Markers. As for other modifications, drive it for a while and do some reading about what others have done and what is going to best suit you. Are you going to track the car at all ?

You might consider a Softronics tune program, but look at reviews first. I like it in my 2010 Boxster S pdk, which seems more responsive in higher rpms.

that looks awesome. I would love to track the car but i'm afraid i'll under steer/over steer/not brake soon enough, and slam my dumb a*s into a rail haha.

can you recommend me tires for tracking this car? and where to get steel brake lines and upgraded brake pads? wait. I'm sure you sell those too!

I wouldn't worry too much about changing up tires, brakes pads, brake lines just yet. The car is very capable in stock form... I've been running stock brake pads, stock rotors, stock brake lines & Hankook v12 (less sticky than even OE Michelins/Bridgestones). If you attend a Drivers Ed (DE) hosted by a well-known club (PCA, Chin, NASA), you'll get good instructors who will guide you along at a pace you're comfortable with. Once you feel you're ready for better brakes pads, stickier tires. etc... then buy those upgrades as you see fit.

Here is a video of the said stock setup at Sebring with PCA. I do have eibach springs and Motul 600 brake fluid (you do need higher temp brake fluid at a minmum),... but in terms of things that keep the car to the ground... tires, brakes pads/lines are all stock. I think everyone should at least do this (take the car to DE) once in their life.

Enjoy!

There's a DE and open track event at spring mountain on feb 23-24. There's also pca vegas sunday breakfast on jan 13 at The Egg Works, at 6960 South Rainbow Blvd. It's just south of 215 on Rainbow, across from the Arroyo Market Square Shopping Center.

There's also weekly cars and coffee meets on eastern just south of the 215. I go once a month, but it's cold so I probably won't go til feb.

Nice looking car. I'm sure we'll run into each other someday if you go to all of the porsche events here.

If you're going to get the car tinted or want a clear bra go to these guys. They are pricey, but work on a lot of high end cars. When I took my carrera GTS there, my car was the cheapest car there.
