2014 Cayman: Anyone Order One Yet?
You can absolutely place an order now if you want. Dealers are taking orders and the first customer cars will arrive in April.
As long as their is the price list and options open you can do it. I sat down with my dealer speced on up and was already to order then cancelled at the last second (want 991 instead) but yes in Canada you can absolutley place an order. They'll come in with the first assignment which is due first week of April.

Whoever orders one without seeing it in person, is in for a treat. The car looks better in person.
I'll probably get bashed for this, but I saw the new Cayman in person at the LA auto show. The Cayman was only a few yards away from a 991. In my opinion, the Cayman looks better than the 991 from the outside, except for the tail lights.

I can confirm that Bay Area dealers in CA are taking orders for the new 2014 Caymans they are being sent in April. One dealer printed out and handed me the spec sheets for the three 2014s he was being sent (all grey oddly).
However, I decided not to order one of the factory configs because I want Cognac Metallic (which I know many of you will not find attractive, but I do!) with amber orange interior.
Anyway, I could only put down a deposit for custom made (not pre-order as was possible with the factory configs) because dealerships don't have their allotments yet for customs (at least what I was told).
As for price, I got $1250 off MSRP for my custom, but I don't really like to negotiate much and prefer a price that keeps the dealer motivated and responsive, and I want my car submitted in the first build slot.

I can't wait till they get in so I can go for a test drive and to take a look at them in person.
You can now order custom configs in the CA SF Bay Area for the 2014 Cayman. Mine was submitted this morning! Sonnen, for example, has two March Cayman build slots, and three March/April Cayman S slots.
Anyway, thought I would share the news. No negative comments about my color choices please!! Trust me, doesn't look like a brown turd...

Cayman vs Boxster?
Well I've had my 2013 boxster s since October. Put 4k miles on it and can't stop smiling ear to ear. While I like the looks of the new cayman and agree that it looks better than the 991 I can't see paying more for a coupe that on paper is slower than the boxster and weighs more. I was on Porsches website today configuring a cayman with the same options as mine and it totaled 7k more! I like the coupe but, to me it's not worth the extra money. But, I reside in sunny California!
Just my 2 pennies!
