would you ever loan someone your P car for the day
So long as they are insured and I know them. Yes.
A long time ago, I read an "exotic car owners guide" which had some excellent advice. One piece of advice was that we can spread our enthusiasm for cars by sharing our cars.
I am the most **** person in the world when it comes to car care but I ALWAYS let children sit in my cars. I ask them to make sure they don't have anything like keys which can tear the leather but I strongly feel that this is not only good karma but helping to foster the next generation of auto enthusiasts. If I know their parents, and they are ok with it, I also am happy to take kids for rides.
I have let several friends and family members borrow cars for special dates, events, etc. I figure I'm blessed to be able to afford these extravagances and I want to share that with people.
I don't mean to belittle anyone's perspective and I get that folks love their cars and work very hard for them but really... at the end of the day... these are just cars. I'm not suggesting you let some random dude on the street take your pride and joy for a joyride (ironically... I NEVER, EVER, EVER valet park) but let's keep some perspective.

Only to someone that has driven or owns a car that has roughly the same level of performance and handling. For someone who has never driven a high performance car it takes some time to get used to. Even with all good intentions not being used to the power could lead into an unfortunate accident. As a result, they would feel bad, I would feel worse and the car would be damaged. It's like lending money to a friend. Never a good idea. It could impact the friendship. It's not worth it. Thankfully none of my friends have ever asked to drive any of my cars. But then again I am not in the 20-30 year old demographic and so most of my friends at this point in their lives ask borrow ladders, tools, etc. Not cars.
No but not just P car. I have only allowed my son and wife to drive any car I have owned out of my sight. They care for the cars the way that I do, even when my son was younger. While it is only a car......the time I put into keeping it the way I want it and driven the way I would like it driven is the reason. Each to his or her own choice.

I've let other people drive and borrow my car, though since I've upgraded the clutch I don't really any more since it's too easy to glass over the racing clutch and just period drive a car that takes 40 pounds of pressure to push the clutch.
I believe in sharing the awesome experience of driving our cars, but it does need to be someone I know the driving skills of pretty well (and they need extensive experience driving manuals).

They said no good deed goes unpunished so NO.
It's more than just damage to the car. For example, you loaned your best friend the car, he drove it, hit a truck and died. His wife then comes to you and blames you for his death as she said he would be alive if you didn't loan him the car... How would you deal with this situation?

Not even my own children
No. I don't borrow people's cars, nor do I loan my cars. I do share my automotive enthusiasm with my two 30 year old twin boys. I let them drive my car during driving tours and DE'S, but I don't ever loan my cars, not even my own children.
Trusted friends and family, definitely yes for the day or more.
Acquaintances who are car enthusiasts, yes for a spin with me in the passenger seat.
My philosophy is to share the joy and excitement with all who would appreciate the car, and in the process inspire others to get their own Porsches which, hopefully they would one day share with me as well.
I find that almost everyone I let drive my car do it very carefully, almost too much so. They don't want to do any irreversible damage, and it takes time to get to know a new car.

My case is a little different being in college.. Plus basically no one can drive stick. However, I never really had a problem letting people drive my car until my sisters boyfriend (he's 30) drove my Porsche the week I got it and beat the ***** off it. The fans kept coming on and was ticking for awhile. To end the story my clutch started slipping shortly after. Granted it was probably on its last leg, It just makes things awkward so after that, i stay away from the situation.
