Hi,
I just traded in my 964 carrera 4 convertible for this funny 987 Spyder.
First thing done was to replicate the 909 bergspyder livery.
The car needs some serious detailing inside and outside (the car was tracked, still it has the Porsche Approved warranty) but since I did not want to start killing myself on the outside, I decided for the livery.
If there are other 987 Spyder owners I'd like to ask a couple of things (and pics) of some specific are of the car.
Super cool. Now you need Carrera red sport seats with black shells. I was an '11 Spyder owner until last September when I traded for a '16 Spyder.
Nice! I like much more the 981 compared to the 987, but unfortunately they decided to go for a too (at least for me) traditional roof mechanisms in the latter one.
Bucket seats already there, but in black. I would have dreamt to have a full red leather interior.
I hope to find a 987 spyder active here in the forum to get a couple of pics of the “boring” seatbelt area that you never see in google pics.

The new Spyder's roof can actually handle the car's top speed, so kudos to Porsche for that bit of engineering. The downside is you have to unlatch the top from the windshield mount just to open the rear boot. But I didn't buy this car for utility.
My '11 Spyder was metallic black with full red leather interior. Was beautiful but I quite like yours too. Shouldn't be too hard to find a wrecked Porsche 987/997 with perfect red seats! Enjoy it!

Here in Europe is not easy to find bucket carbon seats at a decent price. And anyhow Id like to have the full red leather interior. It will maybe happen with the next car
Love the car and the green. What are your impressions of the Spyder vs your previous 964? I am in a Aston Vantage but came from a 993. The Aston is a great gt, but... it's no Porsche. I've been following the 987 Spyders and have been thinking of coming back as I miss the size, weight, and toss-ability of Porsche.

Hi Air. Interesting question.
First of all, mine 964 was C4 manual. Manual, very good, C4, very bad (for me).
And you want to know something? I really wanted badly an AMV8 4.7 manual when I sold the 964. For instance I found not very pleasant to drive the 4.3 with the Sportshift. A little better experience I had it with the AMV12 Sportshift II (or III, I am not sure).
Given that, the Spyder is a complete different world from the 964 and the 997S I had before. Again the 964 because of the four wheel drive, and the main difference with the 997 it that the spyder is much easier to drive and forgives you a lot. It's very very stable and neutral and really "informs" you on what it is planning to do next. My English is bad but I'd say that it's very "talkative", in one word. All this from a driving perspective.
On the other hand it's still "just a boxster" and if you look at the combo pleasure to drive + headturning effect that is not the right car.
It's overall a very honest sport car and it's worth the money that it costs but again... it will never have the charme of an Aston Martin (yes, I love Brit cars).
Ale,
I kind of assumed that. I feel like the charm of the Aston is there, that the Porsche cannot muster. Every time I get out in it people comment and ask about the car. It's just a car everyone loves. However, the driving/communicative experience of the Porsche is not there in the Aston. My Vantage is a manual as was my 993, but the similarities end there. I felt like I always knew what the 993 was doing. The Vantage feed back is pretty insulated. Thanks for your reply. Your car is beautiful and is exactly what I'd want my Spyder to look like if I had one.

Ciao Lucas, the combo you need is an Aero 8 (for the look, the noise, the style, etc) and a Boxster since you need some "normality" and proper driving from time to time
