Pushing more HP - impact to drivetrain?

For those running turbos and/or swaps - have you had any axle problems? Did you upgrade the drivetrain? Buzz on various forums is that boxsters axles can be weak as they were designed for ~250 HP. Thanks.

I heard some issues with the axles but that is only when you really increase the HP, intake and exhaust and maybe a tune were not issues and the RMS/IMS were much bigger problems that should be addressed when you are doing performance mods.

I would have to recheck but I read something about it in Excellence or the Porsche Club magazine when I was researching adding HP to my GT4.

Many are swapping headers, opening up the exhaust, etc. for added gains with no problems. Tunes such as Softronics are supposed to be safe, and I am giving it a shot when I hit 1k miles on my Spyder since it does not add that much, and I am sure the drivetrain can handle it.

I was looking at this stuff but I like the original exhaust and don't want to screw up a good thing and make it hard for the next owner when it comes time to smog it, but I wish the exhaust was a bit loader. Does not seem to be worth the money for the tune and the voiding of the powertrain warranty if anything goes wrong.

If you want a little louder exhaust try the OAP delete pipes, which do not affect the warranty. I did not think twice about the warranty when I had the headers added, so it certainly will not bother me to tune it. If I spend this much money on a car I want it to be everything it can be and odds are nothing will never go wrong, but if it does it does - one has to pay to play as they say. And I have done this to several new Porsches and other cars in the past and never had a powertrain problem.
