PSM light at start-up

Good evening,
I am having an issue with my 2007 Boxster.
As soon as I turn the key in the ignition (even before the engine starts), I am having a "PSM failure" message.
I can clear the error and the car drives fine, no problem.
I have read the codes with my scanner and it's showing me a C153 "Communication steering wheel electronics control unit (drive)" under the PSM Control System.
That same code C153 is showing up as well under the AWS Control System, AC Control System, and Gateway Control System.
I assume it's a code that's related to some electrical gremlin?
I have replaced the control unit, the battery, the brake switch, the clutch switch... no luck!
I have read all PSM related threads and all of them seem to be talking about PSM failure while driving, not before the engine starts...
Has anybody ever encountered this issue? Any help is really appreciated, thank you!

I found the electrical diagram of the 987, and found this:

Anybody knows what the "AY sensor" and "Wheel speed sensor" are, and where they're located?
Thank you!

Quick update: the issue was the getaway unit was fried and hence not communicating with the steering wheel electronics.
Replaced and recoded the getaway, all good now!

That’s frustrating! Since the PSM failure appears before the engine starts, it does sound like an electrical issue. Given that C153 is showing across multiple systems, you might be dealing with a faulty steering angle sensor, a weak ground connection, or even an issue with the CAN bus communication.

Whenever I work on any type of repairs, having the right & desired tool[, can make troubleshooting much easier.

Hello
I'm having the exact same problem as you on my boxster 07.

Could you please explain where the gateway module is located?

I had the dealer replace it, but I believe it is located in the front wheel well on the driver's side.
