Seal Grey - Opinions
I have read here & else where that Seal Grey will be dropped for MY2007. I want to clarify if it will become a "special color" or will stop being produced completely. In either case, if you are able to get a Seal Grey now & you like the color, will it's value / desirability be enhanced by becoming a special or discontinued color? Or, the grey that is replacing Seal Grey a better grey & the value (in the used market) of Seal Grey will diminish?
I have the opportunity to take a seal grey & I do like it. But I would not want to go for it if its being replaced or discontinued due to the wrong reasons.
Thanks

I have a seal gray 996 cab. It's really a nice color and I get lots of compliments. I don't know why the color is being discountinued but that's what Porsche do. Polar silver was replaced by artic silver for example to introduce a darker shade. I think seal gray is being replaced by a couple of variants of gray that also look good and slightly darker. I personally like Atlas Gray also as it looks dark blue when bright. Seal gray will look slightly purple/blue when bright.
I don't think you can go wrong with with Seal Gray if you like it. Look at other gray colors in the choices, if you like a special color over seal, you may want to research a little to see if that's the replacement color for seal. This way, you'll save a little money if you wait or at least have some bargain power.
Just get the color you really like. Just don't get forest green or something.

Meteor Grey
The dealer confirmed that seal grey will be replaced with meteor? grey. Its the same color thats on the new tequipment catalog for the boxster. It looks good but hardly looks grey to me. Comments?
No love for meteor gray from me. I looks like a dark meredian silver to me. Too much bronze for me. slate and atlas are both much better. I'd get a SG while you can if you don't want to pay premium for atlas or slate.
i don't think that's Meteor but again i've never seen one. have any of u seen the new ''Total 911'' mag (or whatever it's called)? the testing 997 GT3 in there seems to be the Meteor & it's a pure grey.
if u really love the Seal u can always do ''Paint to Sample.'' just the fact that it's not a rare color so u're kinda throwing money away for the exclusive option. it will not hurt the resale value of the car but u just won't get what u paid for back. i think u should look into Meteor more.

I will be taking delivery on a Seal Grey Boxster S this weekend. I think the color should not be much of a problem. It isn't dark enough to bee a big dust issue and it is dark enough to be nicer then silver in my opinion.
