i doubt it on the cayman. from everything i have read and comparing numbers it runs hard on a regular carrera. it's faster around the 'ring than a regular carrera as well... porsche isn't stupid. i wish they were though. haha.

atlas310 is infamous around these parts
They have to do something. If the Boxster S is at 290hp and they leave the Cayman S at 295hp, how do they justify the price disparity between the two.

It has been confirmed a couple of days ago: The Boxster S will go up 15 hp to 295 (with the exact same engine, the Cayman S has) and the standard Boxster will be at 245 bp (it's a 240 now).

The Boxster S model will be 1,5% more expensive than the current Boxster S. The 3.2 engine from the current Boxster S will be no longer in production.

So, now we have cabs for less than coupe. I wish 911 cabs are cheaper -- say 65k for 997 cab - $5-10k of discount. I can dream...

if you think about it though... a coupe really should cost more than its convertible counterpart. much more materials... the fact of the matter remains however that from a marketing standpoint convertibles are more of a niche market which comes at a premium, not for any real reason other than they can...

Actually, cab mechanism is more complex and labor intensive than a coupe. This is why cabs cost more.

I realize not every one like cabs. However, the manufacturer's cost is higher given it's add'l R&D and manufacturing costs.

that is true as far as mechanics being more complex but it's not like everytime they make a new cab they are reinventing the wheel... the mechanism is the same for every car... it's just an issue of scaling it to the size constraints of the car... again, there is no R&D because the concept and materials are already R'd&D'd so to speak.

Doesn't matter... cabs are still way more expensive to produce. Google it, if you don't believe it.
