Best years for Boxster S?

Looking to pick up a Boxster (hopefully an S) in the next few weeks. What are the best years to look at? I'd love to get a new one, even a regular (not S) as the new ones are so great, but unfortunately I don't think lease rates are too good on those. I'm located in South OC so does anyone recommend a good dealer?

An 04 James Dean addition is what I would aim for. With only 1500 being built and with the additional HP and a Hard glass rear window that would be the one to have.

2003 was the first year for the glass rear window. I love the 97-02 boxsters...but having a glass rear window was great.

Try to get a 987 or 987S. I think they look so much better than 986. 987 have deep discounts $8-10k off of MSRP. You may be able to get one financed. Besides HP improvement, the look and interior is much nicer than 986.

Umm, if you are in South OC, then are you ever going to see your top down anyway? Besides, if your top ever sees the light of day, then, in time, there is a replacement for soft-windowed tops that has a hard window. It was highlighted in a thread a few months back.

Personally, the soft window does not bother me. I condition it a few times a year with the Porsche window stuff and it still looks new after almost five years.

I think 03 is the best year for the 986 boxster S. My family picked up new boxster S that was last in the inventory and got a very good discount on it as well.

Car is great but really lack on power though. Shop around and see what else you like first. Test drove the new M Roadster (MZ4) and it is quite a car!
