06/07 Cayman S - Regular vs. Sport Seats

Hey everyone,

I'm very new to the forum, at least as far as posting goes. I have been reading for quite some time now.

I am currently in the market for an 06 or 07 Cayman S, but after visiting 3 Porsche dealerships, I have yet to see a car equipped with the sport seats package. I have seen the sport steering wheel, and have driven a car with both the wheel and the sport shifter (as well as driven 2 other Cayman S's).

Can anyone please explain to me the difference between the two seat packages? In looking for a pre-owned car, I want to be sure the difference is worth holding out and continuing to search versus buying a car w/o the sport seats much sooner. It seems to be a more rarely ordered option.

Pictures would be helpful.

Many thanks for any assistance!
Brad

the differnce is not worth holding out for.
Two reason, most people are too big for it. I am 5'11" and 172lbs and it fits me good, but if i were to gain a little more weight or even put muscle on my lat i think the seats would not fit me anymore. if you really need sports seats and are gonna track the car, then you shoudl consider other alternative aftermarket seats.
good luck.

Well I'm 6ft, 220lbs, and weightlift 5 days a week. So if the sport seats are more narrow, I absolutely couldn't use them.

Do they just have more side bolstering? I wish I had some dimensions so that I could compare.

Thanks for the reply!

I feel bad after not ordering the Sport Seats... they are so much more comfortable and supportive and can make the driving experience better. I sit in my car ('06 Carrera S) and then I sit in my cousin's 9 year old m3 (with very nice sports seats) and I feel cheated! Get the sport seats if you can.

It's hard to justify it, seeing as I suppose nobody that reads these forums has the Sport seats and can elaborate on the differences! I would love to see pictures.

Thanks for the responses, though!

I have sports seats in my 997s and I love them. I have had both non and sport and for me sport is the way to go. I also think surf racks on a porsche are the way to go too...lol...

If you need pics I can take but you have to try them to really feel and understand. Thats my opinion and I am sticking to it...lol

I'm 6' even and weight about 225 lbs. I have the sport seats and love them. I have driven as long as 5 or 6 hours and wasn't uncomfortable in them. I also have autocrossed and love the way they hold you in place, no movement or sliding around at all. BUT, this is the only seat I've had or tried so I can't comment or compare them to the standard seat.

I have the adaptive sport seats and they were worth every penny. These seats have electronic controls for thigh bolsters and side bolsters as well. They will adjust to fit anyone and they really hold you in at 100+

For those of you who have been wondering what the visual differences are between the seats, I've found a few pictures to illustrate.

Standard Seats

Sport Seats

Hope this helps others, too!

Thanks,
Brad
