boxster to turbo front end conversion
hey guys first post on the forum!!
ive currently got a 1998 boxster in yellow and hate the orange in the headlights!!!
Instead of changing the headlights to clear ones, i was wondering how hard it is to install the turbo or 2002+ carrera lights
From research ive gathererd that i need at least the 2 headlights (duh), front fenders and a front bumper...does anything else need changing i.e the front bonnet and how hard is it to actually fit everything??
ive seen a few pix and they look great
thanx a lot guys

I did the swap a year ago.
You need: front lights, fenders, front bumper, plastic things to put the lights on, a huge amount of bolts, cables from the 2002+ model.
Go to Carnewal.com (board sponsor): I ordered all OEM pieces from him. Tell him I said hi.
All pieces will cost you like 2000-2500 Eur (from Gert, and that's cheap), without painting or assembly.

Since I didn't count the front bumper (I have a Gemballa bumper, not the OEM Turbo bumper) and USD is worth less then Euro these days, I think 5K sounds, indeed, correct.

The Gemballa front bumper costs way more then the Turbo bumper tough
but I like it

Black plastic sliders, you slide the front light in. Through sliding the light in the wires (in the fenders) are connected to the light. Rather nice system actually.
The wires (connectors) are different between 986 and 996 > 2002, so you will also need those ... and they cost quite a lot, knowing you only need the very end of them. You will have to attach (don't know the English word for "solderen") the connectors of the 2002-wires to the 986-wires. I have the electrical scheme somewhere .. but don't ask me where.

That any good? You can see the complete project @ www.daggie.be (untill 2006) and then "Project". It's all in Dutch tough. Finished pictures are here:

thanx for the input guys, i was orginally intending to go for the 997 front end conversion but i realised that would cost double this, so im gona go for the 996 lights, just need to get all the parts now ebay has most of the stuff pretty cheap just need to fnd those plastic things
5k is alot of money for doing that conversion
if your buying parts on ebay, this conversion should be costing you 5k completely painted and done
you can buy fenders new anytime. get used headlights and any bumper, oem or aftermarket. all brackets, bolts and other misc stuff you also get from porsche.
everything should only be costing you around 3k, if you paying 5. you just have too much money to spend if your here in the states.
i did this conversion back in 2000 and ive done a couple after that. worth every penny after your done.

yeh i was thinking 5 thousand US was a bit steep for me
but then again Daggies aprt were all new
i can get a stock used turbo bumper for AU$600, used fenders (are there any differnce between the pre2002 and 2002+ fenders?) around $250 each, front lights the cheapest ive found are for $1000 each, plus nuts, sliders for the lights and paint which i dont no the cost of yet...
So that comes to $3100 + nuts sliders paint..i can do the install my self and price mite be more if i choose an afteramrket front
thanx
