Black wheels easier to maintain?

For those with black painted wheels, do you find that it's easier to keep clean. Does the fact that the wheel is black hide the brake dust better than silver colored wheels? I ask this because my factory wheels are a pain to keep clean, as the brake dust seems to dirty them up after just a day or two of driving, and I'm LAZYYYY!

Thanks in advance.

yes... but it depends... if you have a gloss black finish the brake dust is going to make the glossy go away... If you really waht to mask the brake dust go with a gunmetal matte finish.

anything dark makes the brake dust less noticeable... My chrome wheels look gunmetal cause I don't wash them that often.

I don't think so, to me the wheels turn brown/goldish. Not to mention after rain they look white!

what would happen if you don't wipe off the brake dust for a long long time? Will it stick on the wheels and develop a layer and can perhaps ruin the wheels?

I think you would have to let them go for a long time for there to be any permanent damage.

I've bought at least 10 different sets on aftermarket wheels over the years, and black wheels are (by far) the easiest to keep clean.

I found that semi-gloss black is easier to keep looking great than full gloss.

i have black rims on our 996 and hyper silver on our boxster. i find the black much easier to keep clean, but depending on the color of your car, the black rims can be washed out by the black tires, therefore, you can't see the detail in the rim as much. just my personal opinion. the 996 is black w/ black rims. but, it looks bad as*!
