The cat bypass was what gave you the biggest boost in HP... nice setup!

Good call. I would take my Boxster over my friends C4 anyday. Boxster is just more fun to drive. Would be nice to have a bit more power though.

Anyone know of good shops in Seattle are to do the 3.4 swap?

I did a lot of research before dropping the 3.8 in my car. I think that the best bang for the buck may be the Power kits from FVD. They include camshafts, intake, exhaust, and I think the ecu as well. Not sure of the total package. Folks that wrote to me were extremely happy with the 50hp or so increase.

Obviously IA does the superchargers and so does TTP. Both options are cheaper than a new car and will help you guys stay with the larger brethren.

I've read too many articles that dismiss the benefits of a new exhaust and chip (on a normally aspirated car.)

My $.02

The cheapest cost.. take off your spare tire, change the battery, and desnork it.

You can't dispute that. That was with a custom Magnaflow with custom 2nd cat bypass. I ran it again 4 months later on the same dyno and got the same.

Here's a pic of the setup

Can you send some pictures of the setup. What model of magnaflow is it, I can take to my local muffler shop. pm me. fornowh@yahoo.com

Hey,

I've got a super charger sitting in my trunk waiting for me to get of my rear and do it to it. IA (or is it IE) makes a nice one. Supposed o be an honest 50% increase in hp.

It's not a honest 50% hp gain.

Talk to Gary in BR(if think that's his user i.d.) on 986forum.com . He had his supercharger removed because it wasn't doing what he was told, which was 50% gain. He was getting around 30-35% gains instead. He had TurboWerx twin turbo set up installed instead.

Hmm, thanks. I'd really like to talk to people with these things. Feel obligated to put it in but.... Twin turbo surprises me what with an 11.1 compression ratio & all.

Thanks P.K.

Thanks. got a hold Gary. He was only getting an extra 30 odd hp at the wheels. He’s up to a 3.6l now and counting.

His had an IE sc (or IA whatever, not a TCP). On removing it, they happened to find a mechanics rag in intake manifold somewhere, mechanic told him it probably didn’t cause any of his performance problems (heh!!) …undoubtedly the same guy who installed it.

I to am a bit dubious about the claimed 50% increase in hp, but I’ve seen the charts, it’s got to be in the vicinity.

P.K.

Thanks for the lead…

P.K.

I wish I had a 3.6l and adding more power.

The Imagine Auto Supercharger added 43 horsepower to the wheels on my 99 2.5 with 140,000+ miles. This was confirmed on 3 dyno days and 2 different dynos.

There was a rag in my intake that was probably one of the reasons my car ran a little rich, and did not generate all of the power iA advertises.

I currently have a twin turbo on the car and have not dynoed it yet. Trying again this weekend.

If I had all of my money back and the time I have spent on these 2 engine mods I would go for an engine transplant. But for the money of 1 of these mods they are great performance increases, bolt on, and ready to go in a few days.

Wish I had $'s too. THeres one on ebay, presumably rebuilt...$5500.

Twin turbos, must scream, what sort of boost do they put out? I'd heard you really can't jack the boost up much without doing damage because of the boxsters 11.1 compression ratio.

Do you have an intercooler? did you have one on your old setup?

I am running 6 lbs of boost, its on full boost around 3000 rpm.

There is an intercooler for this set up but not one on the supercharger, i was only running 4 lbs of boost with the sc.
