New kid on the block, need a few more posts under my belt before I can P.M. I'll kick around here a bit to see if I can make a few meaningful contributions and get back to you.

Thanx,

I may have a factory bose sub for a 996 for sale that goes in the passenger footwell if any of you guys are interested. it's pretty slick and i would assume it would fit a boxster too, and allow you to keep that space and storage behind the seats.

actually, on the boxster, the sub isn't behind the seats rather up on the rear deck behind the seats. same spot as the optional storage box. with a sub in the footwell for the 996, do you lose any foot space?

yeah, i had a boxster before. i just thought maybe someone might not want to give up the storage cubbies.

the bose footwell sub takes up very little space. it rests against the center console in the passenger footwell. it has one driver in there. 7" i believe. being that it's down low like that, the response is pretty good. you won't be winning any SPL contests with it, but if you want to add stealth bass it works very well.

right on. yeah, personally i like the bose sub made for the boxster b/c it fit perfectly in its place. the sub you are talking about i now have in my
cayman s as part of the bose system. good fit that my passengers don't really notice. did you buy it with the car of did you buy it after?

Thanks I’ll have a think on it. I was really only looking for the sub, but your complete setup sounds pretty sweet. Do all the other speakers appear more or less stock?

Thanks PK

Boxster Rear Speaker Bar

It is an OEM product that came on the car when I got it. It is a sub and two mid speakers made by Bose and I believe it is part of the sport touring package. I have no idea how difficult it would be to install after the fact. I do know it is an all enclosed, removable unit and it has only one wiring harness on the passenger side. If you guys want some photos, just let me know
Good evening! I know it has been a long time since this thread was current, however I recently bought a 2007 987 Boxster S and it has the full bose audio equipment with the sound bar in the rear as well. However, i noticed no sound was coming from the bar! When i went to inspect it, i noticed exactly what you said. There is a single inlet plug on the passenger side connected to a short wiring harness, however, it is not plugged into anything! I looked all over the entire car for where the short harness could reach to plug into something, and could not find a single loose wire or plug that could connect to it to power the rear speakers. Do you have any idea where this missing plug might be? Is it hidden under a different shelf or in the carpet behind the seats? Ive looked all over and nobody knows the answer... i would be overjoyed if you did!
