Thinking of buying 07 997TT
Thinking of buying 07 997TT
Hi Guys,
Some of you might know, after the last meet I want a P. Haha. I knew I should not have gone.
Currently I have a deal working out with the local dealership to trade in my 2500KM, less than 3 months old M3 :sob: :sob: for a 07 997TT. They are asking 150 for it less my trade in.
I know this is much more expensive than if I to look south, although I was not born in this country, and given a choice, I rather pump money into an economy where I have been living most on my life. I am fully aware there is a much larger selection of p-cars in the states with options.
The specs are:
’07 997TT Silver on black with ALL options available except ceramic brake package. 4500 km’s on a local car in Edmonton. Supposedly this car was $192+.
However what concern me is, if this car is fully loaded, how come it does not have the carbon fiber package? Am I missing something here?
I would like basalt black but then again I remember how hard it was to keep the M clean with our Edmonton yellow dust. Any thoughts guys? Comments? Wait until next year?
Humm perhaps this car belongs to someone here on 6speed.
Ken

Jimmy get me that Basalt black. Thanks
They want 150K before the trade in. Doing a quick search on Porsche Canada that is about 10K higher.

Ken, I commend your desire to support the local economy, but buying this car anywhere near their asking price borders on charity! If you're spending this kind of money, you deserve to get what you want, be it certain options, Basalt black, etc.
I know of a few Canadian turbos currently available. PM me if you want any more info or have any other questions... Good luck in your search!

There's really no such thing as a "fully loaded" Porsche... different packages cancel other options etc. Just from the pictures, you can see this car is not fully loaded (no aluminum or CF trim, no extra leather packs, no Ceramics, no multi-function wheel, no painted body etc). Nothing wrong with the spec it has, but you should know exactly what you're dealing with... and in this case, it's a fairly basic Turbo for a premium Turbo price (the price of an '08 no less!).

Yes you are correct. Spending this kind of money be absolutely certain I am getting exactly what I want.
I will be looking forward to everyone's opinions and advice.
P.S On the last meet, did you come late? I was leaving the parking lot and I was a Red or Burgundy M6

Thank you for your advice. I felt the same way after having a good look at the pictures. As I did more reading and researching on this forum, I completely realized this was over price even for a Canadian P.

(Sadly, the Calgary contingent seems much less active than you guys... perhaps I need to change that!)
Yeah that is odd, because on the BMW forum Calgary is more active. I would love to drive down to Calgary and meet you guys regardless if it was in the M or P.
Exactly. Guys never mind about the post above. I just remember I can't buy white, silver, tan colours cars. It's bad for my feng shui. wait... or is feng shui for arranging furniture. I can't remember what's what. I just remember can't buy those colours.

Nope, but having said that, he might be selling his too after all the questions he had for me and then going for a ride with Nick
. And his is REALLY nice!!!

The only thing about Gord's is the mileage is a bit high for my liking. I agreed, Gord has a beautiful ride.
Hi:
My first piece of advice would be to hold out for exactly what you want.
A quick viewing of a couple websites will show you the Basalt black 997TT. Don't worry about the dark color...a good waxing ever so often and regular washing will beat the Edmonton climate...I have a black Cayenne and a dark blue Carrera and they have not pushed me over the edge yet!...many others in the past too.
I am a proponent for buying product locally to support the local market...and we have all benefited nicely from the past few years...but so have the car dealerships (not only Porsche)...they have done VERY well over the past few years with the surplus of cash but times do change. After recent months of record low sales volumes the dealerships are willing to move significantly on prices so if they don't come down to an acceptable price...then wait...and wait....I have heard more success stories now than I have in a long time.
I have been watching the 997TT and GT3 market for the past number of months and your car can be purchased for $110,000 USD (and I have seen lower posted)...add on exchange, GST, Duty, shipping, brokerage, mods...and it will top out likely at $135,000 CAD all TAXES IN. I personally will wait until 2009...with the US recession likely headed into depression there will be many coming up for sale in markets with favourable climates...ie California, Texas, Arizona...
If you push the local dealership on this 997TT though...they do not want to sit on this vehicle over winter...maybe they will bridge the gap between cross border prices to a level you are comfortable with.
OR just wait until the Basalt black one comes your way.
I would be equally as concerned with the punishment you will take on the M3 trade in...that is a fantastic car but black book trade in can't be pretty...
My 2 cents.
Good luck.

Thanks Dean. Great inputs. I will definitely wait until I get the car I want. I have all winter.
There is absolutely no doubt it is going to hurt on the M. However I am certain, I want 997TT Basalt black, and the right options.
