I'm normally not a fan of red cars but for this I will make an exception. That 918 is gorgeous!

It's so pretty in red. But I would definitely have to get it with the liquid paint. At this amount of money there is no room to be penny pinching on options.

I think the 918 looks great in many colors including white (and I don't really like white)! Guards red looks stunning! I agree that the liquid metal paint is unique and stunning in its own right - just wish they offered more than just 2 colors in that finish!

I have been a Porsche guy for a looong time but last week bought a Ferrari 599 GTO from Beachwood Porsche in Cleveland. While there they had a red 918 that was Roger Penske's personal car. WOW. It was Guards Red. I asked why he had not picked it up as they said it had been there for a few weeks. They were waiting for a US rear bumper as it was shipped with a European rear bumper so the license plate wouldn't fit. Not sure I buy the story as I can't believe Porsche could make that mistake. Whether the story was true or not the car was real and it was fantastic (Seinfeld line.) BTW it did not have the Weissach package. Budget restraints I guess!!!!!!!

Impossible... It couldn't be because of superior engineering. Must be like a playstation experience compared to the McLaren.

Preference? I found it interesting, that among 3 buyers of the 918 (actually ordered, hadn't taken delivery yet) that I've spoken to (one that I work with), nobody wanted anything to do with that package. Said something about "Eh, that's not why I bought the car."

I mean no one is buying this car to use as a dedicated track car so why spend 100k on 90 pounds less? Most will be garage queens and new money trying to attain a higher status level.

I COMPLETELY agree. The first time I see a 918 at a track event (personally - not a youtube video of someone else), I'll withdraw my position.

LOL! Nobody in their right mind will buy a Porsche "to attain a higher status level" when you can buy a Porsche for $45K!!! Most who buy a 918 buy it because they are avid Porsche or performance car enthusiasts (like Seinfeld or Roger Penske or Ralph Lauren all of whom I understand are customers and none are new money nor in need to attain higher status!). There is at least one owner who has posted on this thread. Yet others will buy it because of its incredible technology and performance. Granted not all will track a 918 regularly and why would you if you spent a million on a car as an enthusiast? Go get an Arial Atom, a Caterham or even a regular GT3 for a track rat!

IMO, those seeking purely status, will go and buy something more exclusive from a brand like Ferrari, Lamborghini or Bugatti (and then treat it like a garage queen and never track it!)

Every Carrera GT owner I know (granted just 3 or 4) tracks his car at least occasionally. I would imagine the same from 918 owners.

Mine will go to a track. If it would have arrived in time in late June it was going...now it looks like August.

Another 918 Performance Run in "Only" Sport Mode

I never see such videos of documented performance runs on the LaFerrari or the P1! Hmmm...
