Tire Pressure System question

For those of you with aftermarket wheels, did you need to purchase Porsche tire pressure sensors for the wheels to make it compatible?

I have an '08 and just trying to cover all bases before I decide on a set of rims.

Regards,

Rich

You could probably use the ones in your stock wheels if you are not going to use them again. I had to purchase new TPMS since I am using my stockers for winter. I got them from suncoast I think for like $350.

griza, once they are mounted is there any sort of configuration that needs to be performed or does the vehicle recognize the new sensors?

I had to go into the menu and check off which size tires I was using. Then as I was driving the psi went blank and I got a warning symbol. I guess this was when it was configuring the new sensors. I continued driving a few more miles and everything registered and it has been perfect ever since.

If you just remove the TPMS and upgrade to new wheels does the warning just stay on the dash?

thanks for the heads up griza.

cpa4s - pretty close, that is actually the 3400S Ruf kit - which is essentially a GT3 with shortened rocker panels to fit the boxster. The sport design package is very similar except the rocker panels are not as pronounced.

My Cayenne Turbo S came with 20" wheels. I mounted winter tires on the stock 20" wheels and left the TPMS in them. I purchased Techart 22" wheels for summer. I purchased 22" tires and TPMS from Tire Rack. The TPMS from
Tire Rack work fine with the Porsche system. Only issue is the menu only goes up to 20" wheels. I just use the 20" setting and make sure the pressure is where I want it.

Careful, some wheels are not made to accept the new sensors. Make sure you ask before buying them. All of what we carry for the 997 will take the new sensors.
