Strange door finish?
Strange door finish?
Looking at these latest pictures I noticed that my door doesn't have that glass finish? Is this soemthing that can be buffed out or Clay Bared? Is this normal for a new car?
That is what they call orange peel effect as the reflection looks like it is the skin of an orange. Many new cars have that from the factory, but a lot of times it can be from a touch up paint job after shipping. It is possible that the car got damaged in shipping and they had to repaint the drivers door. Maybe you can look into the cars history and see if that is the case. I am fairly certain the manufacturer must tell you if there was damage at the port. As far as the panel effect itself, there is really nothing you can do about it besides for getting a new paint job and that is not warranted imho as it is not that bad. Hope this helps.
I went and looked at other cars (not just Porsche's) and all of the cars had this effect.
It actually looks much worse in the picture than it does in person.
Not going to worry about it.

easy fix.....go to a detailer and get a "color sand". i always get this done to my cars....it removes the orange peel and makes the paint look smooth, deep and insane, especiallly on dark cars. in fact, most manufacturers do this to their show cars...that is why they always look so good at the shows!

Wet sand (2000 grit) and high speed buff the car and that will get rid of the oarnge peel really make that paint stand out. Bring the car only to a body shop or detail shop to have this done. You can screw up the finish very easily.
