No offense intended to you my friend, but I think that is possibly the ugliest, most overrated vehicle on the planet.....a box on wheels.

I would stay as far away from the Rover's as you possibly can.

As a former and soon to be again Cayenne owner, I have to say it sure is a nice suv even though I accept that it has limited space. We have a GL550 in the family right now, and I've got to say...it is a damn nice vehicle when loaded with all the right options.

It is big, but it doesn't drive like a big vehicle. The power is there and it turns heads! Not to mention that it is also a safe vehicle as well, which I'll assume is a top priority for you in regards to your family along with the added space. Very comfortable as well. If you'd like I'll be more then happy to take some pictures for you!

The GL550 is without a doubt the nicest SUV I've driven out there other than the Cayenne if that means much. It is basically an S class identical twin [the ML doesn't even compare].

besides the space issue the Cayenne is hard to replace with. i'm in the mood of a family kind SUV but i don't really need the rear space. i can't think of anything that's better than our CTT we currently have. Range Rover? never a fan of it but the interior is nice.

We think alike!!

The GL550 is no slouch either, it has 388hp and loads of torque in the lower rpm range.

The ML with the same 550 engine does 0-60 in 5.6 seconds which is quiet impressive.

I went ahead and took some pictures for you since I will be heading out of town for awhile soon. I personally vote GL550 for you, trust me when I say it is one HELL of a vehicle. It looks really aggressive in real life, the pictures don't do it justice. The 21's are a nice added touch.

This particular vehicle has tv's in the back to entertain the young passengers, dual moon roofs, and a third row which you can't see as they are down in the pictures sorry. Please excuse the random crap and how messy it is, it just came back from a trip up north

Drive one yourself, and you will see what I am talking about. Best damn SUV out there other then the Cayenne.

Jas,

Been in this boat for a while now. We are now on our fourth large GM rig. I have been very, very pleased with these trucks. 3 Denali XL's now an '07 Escalade ESV.
Gas mileage pretty much sucks, but then again in comes with the territory either way you look at it. (High H.P. Cayenne TT or Heavy Weight SUV) similar MPG.

We have two kids now, a third on the way. A Dog, Lots of gear, tow a boat and a car trailer.

We have personalized the latest Escalade to suit our tastes and lifestyle and could not be happier. We added a Brembo Big Brake Kit (not shown in these photos) a suede headliner, truck vault, dvd's and a friend of mine gave me a set of the wheels he designs.

I would seriously take a look into the new Hybrid version due out later this year. Supposed to be good for 25-35% better MPG.

Let me know if you would like to know anything further about these rigs.

Good luck in your search.

Can I ask what you put in the safe other then firearms?

I've contemplated getting one of those for a vehicle or two as well for random items...but then again I decide against it when I realize how hot they can get inside with the blistering heat here in the SW US.

Nice looking truck by the way.

Plenty of room for the kids, it comes in GT3RS Green, and you can bring all of your other cars with you...

I cannot live without these things in our trucks. I own 3 different sizes. They are just so damn handy. I love 'em.

Nice looking truck by the way.
Pre Kids - Shotguns, Ammo and Gear for the Dog and I, Tools, Camera.

Post Kids - Baby Changing Gear, First Aid, Camera Equipment Galore, More Baby Gear and some of my tools.

I have never noticed the heat (During our summer's) But imagine you could insulate it to keep the heat out.

Thank you...I will let my wife know.

GL550 FTW. If your wife is anything like mine, she won't like driving the Escalade. I had a Denali XL and she wouldn't drive it PERIOD. She likes our GL so much that she has made it her daily driver and her S500 just sits in the garage. It drives like no other 7 pass SUV and there is a buttload of space behind the 2nd row when the 3rd row is folded flat. Here are some pics of our GL450.

EDIT: Oops, didn't see Rduffyt's post before posting these.
