Cool Fog Lamps Error Out?

Hello All

I just changed my Fog lamps on my caycay to the HID they work perfectly but after a few minutes (3) of them being on the system faults me out saying check fog lamps...a buddy of mine used the same kit on his cayenne same year and all no issues.

Ideas?
Thoughts?

Standard bulbs are fine once added in a Ballast for HIDs error started

You'll need to have some resistors on their power cables in order for the system checking to think that the fogs are normal. Consult your dealer regarding this issue, they'll help you

Tell them that you've replaced your fog lamps with xenon ones and your car is throwing an alarm message after a while, which is a result of a failure in the system check. Tell them that this can be remedied by adding the required resistors in the middle. They should understand it before you explain the situation actually. It's all about tricking the computer to not to check your fog lamps. Since the xenons work differently than regular fogs...

I came across this website and it seems that this might solve your problem (for some strange reason they decided to call this a "BMW Harness"):

http://www.gthid.ca/

At http://www.launchtec.ca/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10, they explain the following:
Q: I have a newer vehicle with automatic headlights, or a BMW, will GT HID work with my vehicle?
A: Yes, GT HID is one of the few companies that have special harnesses for vehicles with automatic headlights, you can contact us to order these harnesses.
Advanced: Example a 2004 Chev truck, has automatically activated headlights with a daylight sensor on the dash board. The computer that controls the headlights detects the factory headlamp as a 65w-85w light bulb, if the resistance is less than that of a normal light bulb they computer will turn them off to avoid any problems. GT HID only requires 35w to operate, which is outside of the computers safe zone, and may turn them off. We have designed a special wiring harness that will trick the computer and still activate the HID light at the same time, so your vehicle will think that there is a halogen bulb in it and nothing is wrong.

The car is looking for a 55w bulb and your only drawing 35w through it with the HID system and it throws the bulb out warning.

I would not go the resistor route, they generate tons of heat and unless mounted correctly they can burn things they touch or are mounted too.

Might be wiser to pull the HID kit and simply install xenon look bulbs from Hoen, PIAA etc.

just the bulbs MLC...looks great compared to the stock bulbs...and without all the issues of modifying wiring, etc.
