GTS exterior color and tranny opinion
At least living in Vancouver you would not have to worry about the vehicles getting too dirty, so any colour you like would look fine. Black would be the worst and white the best at hiding all those water spots left from all the rain.
In terms of transmissions though, probably most on these webpages ("Porsche enthusiasts" mostly one would assume) would recommend the manual, but it seems that most dealerships (catering to the masses) are bringing in predominantly tips. If you drive mostly in Vancouver...bumper to bumper, and can't go through the idiot in front of you...then the manual may get a bit tedious. Take it to Whistler/Blackcomb or any roads in the interior or in the Rockies then the manual would be a blast, and you would probably get the most out of the V8 engine. I think the jury is still out on whether you will get better resale...manual vs tip.

This vehicle will be predominantly driven by my wife as it will replace the ML500 and it will also out weekend family car with the kids as well. She does not have a problem driving a manual vehicle and I love driving a 6 speed too as it is one of the unique characteristic over the the turbo. That being said, I am worried about the resale value a couple years down the road when I need to sell it. Mass market probably prefers tips, but if a person is willing to fork out extra money over GTS to a S cayenne, would he appreciate the 6 speed gear box? That is what I am asking to myself.

I heard the manual is great at first, but because the side bolsters are so extreme in the GTS, it gets awkward real fast.
I don't know from experience, becuase I never considered a manual in the GTS, went auto all the way.
love it

I think the manual trans will fare better on resale than it has as a new vehicle. I have seen some manual trans GTSs that were available when we were looking that are still available now. Dealers who had them will admit (they did at the time....) it takes a special buyer to want one. If you want one, discounts are probably higher on a manual trans GTS. It's probably like when the Porsche 928 was being sold as a new car. Most were sold with AT and now if you have a manual trans car its highly desirable, at least when you're talking about the last of production the GTS. Enthusiasts will be searching for them in years to come.
Bottom line, get what works for you and don't worry too much about resale as the diff in resale $ will be negligible in just a couple years.
