Cayenne S to be discontinued??..

Hello guys,

I was talking to my local dealer here yesterday and he told me that Porsche is planning to remove Cayenne S from its product range as it is replaced by GTS now. He told me that there will be no more a Cayenne S by the year 2010. I don't wanna believe in this, but is this true?

It could be possible no one knows about this, I can honestly see them dropping it as there is a 25 difference in hp between the GTS and Cayenne S so those who are getting a CS get a GTS now and porsche increases its revenues due to selling a more expensive product to the potential future CS owners who wouldnt mind justifying the marginal increase in price.

So...if the dealer told you wrong, this would only be around 655,000,001 times someone heard a notso at a dealers.
I would go with the odds, bet they keep the S in the lineup and use the GTS or Titanium or whatever named variant to get rid of parts in the overstock bin.

No reason for Porsche to do it. GTS has 21" wheels and some people may find it too stiff.

There is only 4 variants in Cayenne lineup, what is the reason to remove one? Look at the 911 lineup.

Porsche would only hurt their sales from this move.

There is a 10/15K price difference between the two from the CS to GTS. That's a whole lot of enchilada's my friends. You are moving up to the 84K - 95K GTS's and you have no price point between the two.

Okay, IMO, the price difference between the GTS and the CS will get lower and lower and disappear as the CS discontinues. Also, if you want more comfort, Porsche may say either go with Cayenne or CTT to you if you are complaining about the stiffness of GTS' ride.

The main question is why does Porsche needs to drop the S?

It is so easy for them to make it. Body is exactly like the V6, engine is almost exactly like the GTS, interior is the same for all Cayenne. Porsche is not making any special effort in making the S, along with the V6, GTS and CTT, and future CTTS all together in the factory. Having more choices for customers will only make them more money. I don't see any good reason to drop the S.

This makes no sense. A new "baby Cayenne" is in the works. A hybrid is coming. The Cayenne is due for a complete re-design in a few years. Who knows??
