06 Cayenne hesitation

My 06' S has a hesitation at times from a standing start. I press the accelerator pedal and it just sits there at about 1000 rpm. Then after a
few seconds it takes off. Anyone have this quirk?

Cracked coils would be my guess. Seems to be very common problem based on what i read on another forum. Make sure the dealer replaces all 8 after scanning as there is a TSB.

If your vehicle is out of warranty, dont worry, it is not an expensive item if you are a DIYer:

Off topic, but I sure do wish that when I shifted my GTS with the paddles, it was more ubrupt like my old old 06M5.
I wish when you shifted it ver to manual, it just knew, and then shifted faster.
I find the lag when shifting too slow and wish it was at least adjustable like the M5.
oh well.
Sorry to change topic, but I had to vent.

This was a common problem on alpha and beta models (2003 and 2004). I agree with the previous posts, it is generally related to ignition coils. In some of the earlier models, software upgrades were necessary to modify the transmission's behavior, but the 2006 shouldn't have this issue.

Does the engine idle rough or misfire at all?

Dennis,
No, the engine runs smooth and does not missfire.
The only hesitation is from a standing start, and the engine just runs smoothly at 1000 rpm. Then, off it goes like it was stolen. Its like its not engaging the engine somehow.

Sometimes they run rough when the coils are bad, but sometimes not. I'm guessing that cracked coils is still the issue here.

Resurrecting an old thread here, but the 06 CTT I just purchased definitely has a bit of a rough idle and has a similar odd hesitation especially when going WOT from a standing start. Looks like coils and plugs are the issue, no?

Is this the best place from which to purchase them?

Coils $289 http://www.suncoastparts.com/product...Code=955ttmain

Plugs $92 http://www.suncoastparts.com/product...Code=955ttmain

I am planning on doing EVOMS intakes, EVOMS tune, Sharkwerks diverter valves, Sharkwerks 2nd cat bypass pipes, and perhaps the RSS plenum as well. Any reason to get different plugs than what factory recommends if mods are in the near future?

If coils are cracked to the point that they are shorting out, then you'll see a CEL, and often there will be a burning smell or a sulpher smell.

Have you asked your dealer or mechanic about it?

BTW - Suncoast is a great place to buy parts.

During PPI, Porsche dealership noted "bit of rough idle" and the service advisor said something about the coils probably going bad. Bought the CTT from a MB dealer who took it in on trade on a 2010 GL550. I basically paid wholesale, so I didn't try to pursue the rough idle problem further with MB. I had seen the coils mentioned prior to that on another search here on 6speed and didn't figure the swap would be very expensive if that's what it ended up being.

I still have the exact same problem and it has NOTHING to do with coils. Its a computer glitch or something like that.Still waiting for Porsche to fix it,guess after i get broadsided they will.

Some observations on my 05 C, there are times when a half push on the pedal with PCM on results in a BIG deadspot - Especially when making a turn from a slow roll. I added a sprint booster which killed most of the issue and with the PCM off, the problem is completely gone. Not saying the coils are not the issue, but based on other posts, I always assumed this was just the way Porsche programed the trany - Real dead from 2nd - 3rd for about 75% of the pedal range.

As a test, turn the PCM off and see if it still does it.
