Wheel cleaner

Can someone recommend a spray on and hose off wheel cleaner? I've tried a couple and they all have been worthless.

I use a cheap wheel cleaner that can be found at walmarts. It's a plastic spray bottle with black-red coating on it. Can't really remember its name. Either way, be careful not to use cleaners based on chlorine as it damages the coatings on your wheels if you have any.

Remember that the wheels, like the car paint have a clear coat on them and if you want to keep them nice and shiny you would need to treat them like the car paint. Use only pH neutral (acid-free) wheel cleaner. Any known brand should work provided it is acid free. I personally use Eagle One.

To clean make sure the wheels are cold and then:
1. Spray the wheel;
2. agitate with a soft brush;
3. Let set for 20-30 seconds;
4. Hose off.

Unfortunately there is no easy way to clean German brake dust. The more frequent you do it the easier it is to remove the brake dust. If you do it once a week it should be quite simple. If you wax the wheels (and you should to protect them) it becomes easier.

I would not recommend using any product that is only "spray on and hose off" as in my experience they are all acidic and would damage your wheel.

Exactly. Some good (and safe) wheel cleaners out there are Zymol Wheel Cleaner and P21S Wheel Gel.

I use Klasse All in One which is an acrylic car wax/polish. I use it on the car and the wheels. It works great especially on dark cars. It lasts much longer than your traditional carnuba wax. If I have time I put a top coat of S100 which is a carnuba wax. This gives me better protection and makes the car and wheels look even shinier.

Well I actually recommend washing the wheels when they are cold.

I use two different brands. One is the Michellin wheel cleaner and the other is a mix of water and simple green. As for wax, I use S100 to wax the wheels.
