so I went to trade in the GTS for the TS

SO I was down in TX this past weekend, drove by the Porsche dealership of Lemmon in DAL, and they had this n i c e, TS, although not my color and a few options I would have wanted that this didn't have like the pano, and camera, but we couldn't completely come to agreement with price.

THey wanted to give me ONLY $69K, for my GTS which I bought 5 months ago for 100K.

THat depreciation along with what the new TS would have been would have been a payment of much much more than the car was even worth.

Here's a pic of the TS, that in the end I didn't buy, but who knows, maybe it will still be ther ein a month when I drive back down, and maybe they will want to help cover 2/3 of my depreciation on the GTS, and then we will have a deal.

The red isn't my color, I prefer my current silver, but here is the pic of the TS I drove.

Oh, and the TS at sea level, is an unreal beast.
Doesn't even compare to my GTS at 6,000 ft altitude....

That's my main reason for wanting to trade up.
Get the Turbo engine for altitude...

perfectly justified right?

my wife might not think so.....

Ah and I also changed out my side markers, MUCH nicer, I think.
So here is a pic of my current and the TS.

my GTS, has ALL options, except pano, and hitch. 8K miles

it has full leather, park sensors, pdcc, light package, illuminate door sils, EVErything.....

They siad, pretty much take your car, MINUS ALL OPTIONS, and then apply depreciation and that's the cars worth.

OPTIONS equal $0.02 per every $1.00 spent.

bah.

currently at todays date the GTS is about 62% residual for a 2008.
The turbo is about 59% for a 2008.

You don't even want to know what they are in 1 more year or 2 years..... UNLESS you're buying used.

they originally quoted me an even $60K for my car, I talked them up, and down on the TS.

He said if somone today, wanted one of their BRAND new 2008's that they still have that were listed at 87K, he'd let them go for low 70's.

Very nice guy, probably one of the nicest I've met, but I just couldn't justify that loss for resale...

what about the dealer where you got the GTS ? mine was really good when i traded back my turbo after only 6 months they gave me $108 on the $130 i had paid.

that was before the Oct melt down i suppose; as well, there were few turbo's around Ontario at the time.

that's why we call them stealers instead of dealers. They STEAL your car from you if you try to trade..

I have had the OK to upgrade to CTTS a few months after i picked mine up, the key is when you take your wife make sure you let her sit in one with a Pano roof... I have kept convincing myself the S is the best value and the maintenance would be less demanding, less parts to fail especially since Im passing this to my daughter next year...

I saw a 2009 CTTS in some smokey dark greyish/browhish hue a color I have never seen before... It came up on my side last friday while I was on 78 in NJ, car was filthy but man was it looking sexy, got the nod from my daughter, the wife, my mom and my aunt... I think its my next ride only definite opt is pano roof, and i want the blk grey two tone interior... optional options are the carbon grab handles front, and carbon grabhandles for the roof as well if they are not standard... oh and i will try to convince my better half to come up with the extra 10K to take delivery in DE... im going to pimp in Belgium, Spain, and UK before I come home.... slap slap it will be what ever the dealers have with pano roof and blk/grey combo especially since I have to pay in full prior to Euro delivery....

Residuals have NOTHING to do with trade value.

Sell your car privately if you want to get top dollar.

I would agree with you on the private sale except....
  • if you have a note to pay before you can sell with clean title...
  • if you can trust your buyers personal/certified check to clear...
  • joyriders, people looking like they can make the purchase but just come to abuse...
  • deposits to hold then lowball the final payment or they cant get private vehicle finance...
  • on a car im selling under 10k i would take my time an wait, but when I estimate value at something close to 20k plus I would rather tug a war with stealer until i'm happy ...

Of course ur going to get boned after only 6 mo.
I mean ANY new P-car takes about a $20 grand hit as soon as you drive it off the lot. And then a SUV in this economy, it's a used car buyers market.
