2005 cayenne----there is a vent control on top of the dashboard---it has a light in the middle just like the rest of the vent controls----mine does not work and the dealer states they dont work on cayennes--it is there for show----

of course it works... your dealer is stupid and also thinks everyone around him is stupid too... Why would porsche put a vent control there just to "show"... nonsense...

I never noticed a light on my top vent.

 

it is the vent control switch-just like the rest-----in the middle of the speaker thingy----

well since it's changed from a light to just a vent ****/switch I can actually understand and chime in.
It DOES work. It's a little breeze instead of the normal air flow from the others. I'm the summer it cools the glass in the winter it keeps it from fogging up. It is worthwhile and works. It's subtle though and not a full blast of ac like the other vents.

 

in the manual it is described as item -----a-----to open and close vents-----

does the wheel which opens and closes the vent have a light in the middle just like the rest of the wheels----

 

no light in the ****.
just a simple **** and that's all.
it's a on off **** and that's all.

the mesh backing, the plate that looks like a speaker cover.... cool/warm air actually flows from that area.
it's not a surround speaker.
just a air vent.

your car is probably workin as it should, no worries.

 

jace, i think everything is working ok---it is just that there is a small bar that lights up in all the other ***** on the car and only this one does not------

 

might be for saftey, so you dont get the glare/reflection on the windshield.

OK, just went out to my car, took it for a little spin to the store, and check the light that you are thinking it should have.

You are correct, all the ***** on the vents facing you, (4) DO have little lights in them, for lighting up in the dark.

The one on the dash, facing towards the ceiling DOES NOT light up, and this is 100% so you do not have a reflection/glare when driving at night.

Think about it, if it had that little orange light, at night that is all you would see looking forward.

So, hope you can sleep now, your car is working perfectly.
NO LIGHT.
