Heated steering wheel, etc

I have an 08 GTS and its supposed to have a heater steering wheel but its been in the 30s and 40s and I have noticed a difference. Is this thing working? I wish I could have it come on around 45-50 degrees but I'll take what I can get I guess.

Also,

Do the front side fender lights flash when you put on the turn signal, mine dont but I changed out the yellow lenes for the white ones so I dont know if something screwy happened.

Lastly,

I had to bite the bullet and pick up some winter tires. That sucks considering this is an SUV but I didnt want to plow into a guard rail on the summer tires. Too bad they dont make a 21" all season...

It's probably working. I noticed mine the other day for the first time, when I had the side windows warming, defrost on, and it was 30 degrees outside. I never noticed it when it was around 40-50.
My guess is wait till it gets colder, it's probably fine.

No. The are just there to light the side and wheel well.
No blinky.

They make a perelli snow tire, but still.
21 are only going to be so good when compared to a 18 inch winter setup.

I myself got 18's and I am putting Nokians Hakka R's on for the best winter tire available.

A cheaper and onyl slightly less of an alternative are the blizzeks by Bridgestone.

the heated steering wheel in Cayenne does not work as strong as other brands, such as BMW (separate button + stronger heat).

the only way to tell if it is working is to touch the steering wheel and then touch the other plastic part of the wheel and compare the temperature difference. If the wheel is slightly warmer, then it is working. Don't expect it to be a hand warmer though.

I used 18" winter wheels and tires, doesn't look as cool, but smaller wheel is supposed to run better in snow.

If under 30 degree, I feel the heated steering wheels just useless...
BMW, MB, even Lexus would be 10 times better than that...

the heated steering wheel is one of the best options out there in the cooler northern climate. driving gloves aren't thck enough so the heated wheel is needed. the kids were jealous of the option last winter!

btw - when it is needed and working, you will know.

Smile

I would agree the BMW heated wheel is great...almost a warmer. I forgot to mention that I have the Carbon Fiber/leather wheel. Maybe the CF makes a differance.

Any info on the side lights? Do they flash or no?

My snows came in they look pretty good. 255's are pretty wide but thats what was recommended. I dont mind.

it's not a hand warmer, it's a heated steering wheel, it makes sure that your steering wheels is at 71degrees, just like as it should be. If you need warm hands, wear gloves then..

I believe it is only available on full leather wheel. Carbon fiber and wood wheels are not heated.
