Cayenne = POS?!?!

I've had a number of annoying problems with the cayenne thus far and was just wondering if anyone else had the same issues?

First off, the damn remote is such a POS. It will hardly ever unlock the passenger/rear doors on the first try. Never had issues with a remote. I spoke to the dealer and they agreed it was a POS.

Secondly, the rear seats are a chore to put down, b/c the latch always seems to be stuck. Took it to the dealer, they tried to make certain adjustments, but it still doesnt work well.

Thirdly, there seems to be a tapping noise from the engine bay or driver side dash that just wont go away...no idea what it is...but the dealer will be checking it out...

Finally.... the damn starter fell through the dash! WTF?!?!?! That's right folks...I got in, tried to start it up only to find out that there was no starter!!!!! The POS fell into the dash console!! That was a lot of fun trying to fix that issue. Oh well...it's off to the dealer and maybe they'll have to epoxy the starter back in place!

Aside from those issues, it's great!

By starter, I assume you mean ignition switch as the starter is a motor attached to the engine.

I have heard of the remote problems. It has poor range, no doubt.

I have alot of rattling sounds, now i have a scraping sound every so often when going slow in 2nd gear (confirmed by friend), rear hatch dont always open, etc. etc. i can deal with all that... but the one thing that is really ticking me off is the gas mileage!!! How many miles is everyone getting here for how many gallons of gas??! Whats your MPG with what type of driving precisely??

I have averaged very high 16's & low 17's since new (14 months old & 16,500 miles) combined city & highway. 60% highway & 40% city.

I average about 14.7 MPG, and thats 2/3 freeway miles (around 70 MPH with cruise control on). And no that is not being hard in the city it is actually being very very easy and featherlite on the gas, this is terrible gas mileage. Most I ever got to a tank of gas was 320 miles and that was all highway miles.

12.9mpg was the best I had. I average 10mpg now.

The keyless entry is a good option

I'm getting around 16MPG. Started at 14.1 when I first got the car. Seems to be getting better.

not sure if it applies, but VW issued a TSB to fix the same remote issues with the touareg. The fix involves removing the antenna in the dash and running a new one up the a pilliar. You all may want to look into it....

I have a CT with 8k on the clock and just got back from a trip to CA ( I live in AZ) and with AC and cruise set at between 70 and 80 most of the time I averaged between 17 and 18mpg. I have gotten over 18 w/o AC. I'll take that anytime.

yup the remote can be easily fixed. I do not have a problem with mine since the beginning. Just make sure that the antenna is long enough
