Audio Experts Help
I have been told that if you remove the stock radio from Cayenne (I have 2004 Cayenne S) in order to install an after market nav unit it can cause the electronics to fail throughout the car. I am thinking about pulling out the stock headunit (was standard cd player not the nav option) and putting in a pioneer double din nav screen. Has anyone experienced this type of failure of glitches in their systems?
No chance!!
The shop I use has replaced well over 100 stock units with aftermarket components.....and not one customer reported any electronics issues....
I know in my case, I have had NO issues

I gutted my bose system minus the head unit and ran it like that for over 3 years.... the factory navi is nice but the sound quality doesnt compare to aftermarket setups.....

Hey gang.
I search for threads on audio installs because I am about to o one myself (through a shop).
There are 'clean' ways to keep your factory HU and bypass the bose system. For those that dont know, the bosesystem uses optical outputs which makes it a little difficult to tap into it, unless you use LOCs after the amplifier (doing this 'colors' the sound since the signal is already amplified. all the signalsbefore the amp are digital, so you cant use an LOC like you could in other cars.)
I am waiting for a MOSTbus adapter to produced that will be able to tie in with the factory HU and send a signal to an after market amplifier. I forget the brand that makes it, but they make an Ipod/Bluetooth interface as well. The MostBus output isnt supposed to be out for a fewmonths, but luckily my local audio shop is buddy buddy with the company, and they are sending me the proto-type and it should be here in a few weeks.
edit: mobridge is the company i was thinking of
