PCCB option?
PCCB option?
Hi guys,
Any opinion of the PCCB option for the Cayenne? Is it worth it? Any significant difference?
I own a 08 Cayenne Turbo and selling it for a 09 Turbo S but it doesn't have the PCCB option.

Are PCCB's worth it? It all depends on how much money you want to spend and where you want to spend it.
PCCB's: expensive to purchase, expensive to maintain, minimal brake dust (wheels still get dirty though), excellent performance, definite cool factor, perhaps a bit silly on a SUV, don't let the idiots at Joe Bob's Discount Tires swap your 22" wheels because they won't be able to afford a new rotor if they crack it.
Steel: cheaper to purchase, cheaper to maintain, more frequent maintenance (pads and rotors), more brake dust, excellent performance.
Both the steel brakes and the PCCB's are great. My personal decision was that PCCB's are worth it on the 997TT and not worth it on the Cayenne Turbo S. If they were free, I would take the PCCB's in a second.

Thanks for the reply and good point.
Regarding Joe Bob, lol, no worries with that. I only take my Cayenne to the dealer, most people say it's more money for the same job but at least it's less headache.
My Turbo S will have the 21 sport plus, basalt black on black/havana, pano roof and the rest of the gadgetry: PCM, bluetooth, Universal Audio, etc.

Thanks but I actually didn't pick the car, the car picked me. I went to a Porsche dealer to order a Turbo S but was told that Porsche will not produce/deliver cars from February to May of 2009. That dealer was far from my house. After some online search, I found the car I wanted in another Porsche dealer 5 minutes away from my house. And it was exactly what I wanted.
I wanted to ask you about the PCCB, you mentioned that they are expensive to maintain. Do you mean that it's expensive to replace them when they're worn out or it involves some kind of special maintenance while they're still good?
Thanks

no need for PCCB buddy. If the yellow color of the calipers attract you, you can always paint them to yellow. Believe me, it's not worth the extra bucks. You'll forget that you have PCCB after a couple months, so, the best thing to do is to go with the regular brake system. If you really want a better brake system (even though you don't since the regular Cayenne brakes are already EXCELLENT), you can switch to Brembo brakes, for cheaper, but again, no need...
Yes, I mean they are expensive to replace when worn out (or damaged). The service life should be pretty long compared to steel brakes but who knows on a heavy SUV?

FYI- Gen 2 PCCB's are good for 150,000-180,000 miles. I dont think you have to worry about "expensive to maintain"...
BUT..if you do go 180k in your Turbo, it will cost upwards of $15,000 to replace
Now how do these brakes work up north in the winter time. I hear the PCCBs take longer to get heat into them, this would make me wonder how well they will stop a 6800 pound vehicle in below freezing weather. Any input on this?
I decided to buy another Turbo S without PCCB thus I won't be able to tell you when I have it.
Overall, PCCB seems to be more headache than anything else.

I'm interested in the Brembo 380mm 6-piston setup or the 405mm 8-piston setup. Stay tuned on this mod.
The current brakes on the 957 Turbo and Turbo S are made by ATE and are hideous IMHO, but I'm sure they'll perform well. They're ugly like a Prius ... remember boys and girls, technology doesn't need to be ugly.
