Used Cayenne S or Turbo?

I'm thinking about trading in my truck for an ~06 Cayenne. I started looking around and it seems that the Turbos can be had for around the same price as the S. Any obvious reasons why I should not look for a Turbo? Probably want something under 45k miles. Are they pretty reliable over all? I assume there was no bluetooth available in the 06 cars. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I dont know much about the older cayennes except I have heard some have had electrical problems. I would go with a turbo over a S the power is alot of fun for an suv

there is no chance in this world that a turbo can be bought for the same price as an S....unless the S is a LOT newer/miles etc.
im not sure about your exchange rates but i would say there is a minimum of $10,000 if not $15,000 premium.
the turbo is a far superior beast, having not just 2x turbos but much higher trim level/air suspension/different engine internals/body panels/wheels/
a lot of this can be specced on an S but you will pay for it.

i actually prefer the S (with air suspension), and unless you want the extra turn of speed its the one i would opt for, the 3.6 has a hard time moving 2.5 tonnes (and is no better on fuel)

but its your choice.

There is a chance in this world to get a Turbo for $$$ of an S.... my best friend did it a month ago. The only difference is the S would have 10k less miles. I LOVE the Cayenne TT more than words can describe. No problems yet and it is a higher mileage vehicle. the first, and original owner, had everything taken care of plus religious dealer servicing.

im sorry i just cannot see that being possible unless there is a vast difference in the condition age and miles of the 2 cars.
in the UK for example a 2005 S with 44k miles in good condition is fetching
£17,000 private sale.
the same year/condition turbo is fetching £25,000 private sale, at dealers is much higher a margin.
just look at the difference in new prices.
im afraid i dont think its possible, can you prove it with any adverts? i have looked on your autotrader and the premium is very high for the turbo.
please remember we are talking about like for like and not a shed against a peach.

Cool Debate the S vs. Turbo

. . . or you could get the 2006 Turbo S.

For about $50 grand, you could have the best SUV and likely have 3 years of warranty (CPO) remaining.

No problems after 2.5 months as my daily driver.

i have to agree with you, i have owned both and the turbo is blistering....but it does not deminish the 4.5 S, i loved that car, it was smooth fast and economical (ish)
i would have another in a heart beat (as long as it had air suspension)

the reason i traded up to a turbo was i could not find a S with air, so i had to go for the turbo, as the difference between air and springs is like night and day for me. i love the option of changing the ride height/stiffness as i drive.

I always have a better impression with NA cars than turbo cars, seems like one more thing to worry about and keep eyes on just by having the engine with turbo.

Just my $.02
