Good Deal?? - 2004 Porsche Cayenne Turbo

Hello,

I am looking at this cayenne and was wondering if you guys thought it was a good deal for $34k out the door? It looks clean and has 1 owner.

http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail...5&aff=national

Let me know what you guys think or if I should continue looking...

For me, I'd look for something newer. I've read too many warnings about 2004s to feel comfortable buying one, but obviously there are many people out there enjoying their early 955 Cayennes.

Thats a lot of car for the money. "LA Car Guy" - anyone know anything about him? I'd feel a lot better if he didn't hesitate to offer some sort of warranty if you bring it up. As always, get a thorough PPI before pulling the trigger.

It's a buyer's market.

I have owned a 04 CTT for three years now, bought with 28k miles on it, 1 owner previous leased vehicle, of course everything newer is better, Ebay these are selling all day long from dealer/private party for 27 - 28k. I had to put in close to 12k (non dealer prices) for minor repairs, my mechanic told me Porsche knows of the problems and have improved on the newer models. ie; Porsche ran plastic coolant tubing under the intake manifold that after a period of time crackes and fail due to extreme temp, parts were cheap but he had to take the entire top half off to replace, Porsche since has switched to aluminum tubes, safer 05 and 06 models maybe, 05's on ebay are running high thirties low forties! otherwise I love the truck and waiting for the resale 09 CTT S next year, should be in the 80"s

there are good 04's and bad 04's same as later models.
if its a clean truck it is no problem.
my early 04 was much more reliable than my current late 05.
you pays your money and takes your chance.
take someone who knows cayennes along to check it out.

good luck

Another vote for warranty. Mine is a CPO and I'm averaging one visit to the dealer per month since I've owned it starting from last October. 3 trips for the TPMS, the coolant pipes, driveshaft, moonroof, and 3 separate sensor failures to name a few. Due to the fact I've had every major failure of the 2004 models, I probably won't have many issues now (I hope).
