Anyone had this radio/computer problem?
Anyone had this radio/computer problem?
2008 Cayenne (6cyl)
Since new every one to three days the AM/FM/Trip Computer flip out. AM goes to 630/ FM goes to 107/ Trip computer resets. Other things might be happening but these are known and consistent.
Porsche replaced the radio/satellite radio/ GPS module(s) one time. Problem still existed. Porsche has taken readouts after a failure and before anything has been adjusted. No response from Porsche.
Last week the entire radio flipped out. Kept coming on and going off. Even after engine shut off. Next morning it worked as usual and has continued to do so.
If anyone has any ideas here, I would greatly appreciate your help. This is getting very annoying.
Thank for your help.

We had the same problem in our 05 V6 except it would always default to the CD in the radio or the #1 FM preset. But the trip would reset also.
Porsche Dealer # 1 put two radios in ours and it still did the same thing. Then took it you Circle Porsche they put in a new radio and re-programmed something and it has not had any problems for two years.
It may or may not be related but around the same time Porsche dealer # 1 could not get the Service Now to turn off either.......Circle fixed that at the same time.
So yes we had the same problem and it is fixable......But I learned a lesson in the process if your local dealer can not fix it ask around for the best dealer in your area and take it to them.

Thanks Guys
Both good thoughts. I am in SW Florida. I think the best dealer is in Sarasota. I will give them a call.
I think my dealer thinks I am making things up. Even though I have (at their request) taken the car in after a reset and before touching anything, I don't think they believe that this is happening. After leaving the vehicle there three times we have pretty much come to blows. I called Porsche and they said I had to just take it back to the dealer and leave it.
Is there a chance you could give me the location of the dealer that fixed the problem in order that I might contact them?
I very much appreciate both of your help. It is certainly not the biggest problem around but after 18 months is getting very old.

May be on the way to solution

I contacted Suncoast Porsche in Sarasota, Fl. They are currently reviewing my service records before having me make a trip to their shop. They believe the continuing problem entails putting in a new PCM unit but transferring the programming from the old one to the new instead of programming the new.
This could explain why we both had new units installed but the problems continued. You said your problem stopped after a new unit was installed and programmed. I really hope this turns out to be my problem.
I believe Suncoast really wants to solve the problem and care about Porsche owners. I did not purchase there and have never been to their facility.
I want to thank you again for your post. Without it I do not think I would have gotten on a good path towards solution.
