06 cayenne S PCM Question

hI all ,

new to this Forum but have a question,

been getting mixed information about Porsche cayenne PCM, i own an 2006 with navigation , i looked at the PCM version it shows 3.0

but from what i been seeing online the PCM 3.0 is a touch screen and supports IPOD and Blue tooth , i don't believe my PCM is a touch screen nore supports other multimedia , now the DVD i have for my navigation is Dated 2006 , do you think my PCM version is upgraded ?

how can i update my PCM to accomdate Blue tooth or IPOD or even just newer maps

let me know , thank you all in advance

My Finding on a 2005 Cayenne Turbo

I'm looking to update my NAV maps as well. I confirmed my PCM version by looking at the outside binding of the PCM operation manual. It states I have 2.1. Could it be as simple as that for you? Also, I wanted IPOD but did not want to control my music from the IPOD but instead store the IPOD in the glove box and control it from the PCM interface. The factory solution does not allow me to do this so I've been looking at a product from NAV-TV. If you're looking for bluetooth...I'm guessing that its to use a phone; if this is the case then as long as you have the phone buttons on your PCM (ie. button to pickup call and button to hang up call) then you're set. If you don't have they I was told that even third party product can't offer a solution. I hope this helps!

06 cayenne S PCM Question

i do have the Phone buttons also there is a small drawer where i can insert my SIM card but can't get that going either , i don't have the PHONE menu in the main menu in the dash ,

well i was confused because i pressed MAIN and TRIP together and the PCM software reads 3.0 while the posts online mentions PCM 3 is a touch screen and supports bluetooth

i am tempted to remove my Porsche Navi and install an after market GPS and audio receiver like pioneer or alpine specially that i wouldn't need to keep buying updates every year

Your PCM is definitely a 2.1 for your 2006.

You can easily verify this by checking to see if there is a separate DVD drive under the passenger seat (for the navigation DVD).
The earlier PCM 2.0 looks the same but do not have the DVD drive, and one has to use several CD's to cover North America.

The version 3.0 that you see on your display refers to the software version only. This has nothing to do with the PCM hardware version #(eg 2.0,2.1,3.0). I have a PCM 2.0 and it also has software version 3.0 on the display.

For some reason Porsche has made this unnecessarily confusing!

I think that he latest nav software is from 2008, and the latest software version is 3.0.

I would keep your factory setup, especially if you have the Bose package. Just add an aftermarket interface that will work with the "MOST" fiber-optic system. This will give you Ipod control, USB and even bluetooth with your existing buttons, including the steering wheel. The only drawback is you can no longer use the factory 6 disc CD changer as these interfaces do emulate the changer.

Hope this helps, and good luck!

Unfortunately the only place that I know of to obtain the latest nav DVD or CD update is from the dealer. You can also try Ebay, you never know if someone just sold their Cayenne and kept the disc.
I'm also looking myself for the latest 08 CD version set.
