Road Runner is on a distinguished road
It should be on the left side of the trailer hitch (square cover with 4 screws)
You will need to buy a proper receptacle from the dealer to replace the blank cover.

Angry FrUsTrAtInG! should be a simple thing!?!

So once I buy this part $11+/- and plug it in the box next to the hitch they say it still won't work the brakes on a trailer!?
Even my Jeep was simpler. I tow an 18ft boat with a standard shorelander boat trailer with a STANDARD plug pic below/ same as on my 6x8 flatbed trailer hookup. What good is a plug without it working brake lights? What do I need to buy on top of that other plug?????? Thanks

They don't mean that the brake lights wont work on your trailer.
They just mean that the electric brakes wont work if your trailer has them!

For trailers with electric brakes you will need to install a special brake controller that goes under the dash and a different plug at the hitch (7 pin round).

For a regular trailer without electric brakes the straight plug that you show is fine.

You simply need to buy an adapter for the 4 pin plug, same thing you would have to do with any vehicle that is rated to tow over 5,000 lbs. Its like another $10. Be happy your Cayenne has the tow package or you would be looking at a large bill to get a hitch on it. $20 for you to tow is a bargin

I got U-haul to do the hitch for $400 bucks... way better than the dealer.
