The outcome of messing with a chipped S4.

Well, I lost. Granted my Cayenne Turbo is stock right now, besides mufflers, I got raked pretty hard by my friends GIAC chipped 2001 Audi S4. We went from around 45 and only for a few seconds as I just let off because it was a pretty hard pull he instantly had. That is his only mod, and I figured I would put up a decent fight, but it really wasnt even that close. So, with all the mods I am planning, (ECU, bypass pipes, Diverter valves, BMC, and maybe the sport option intercoolers if I can get them cheap enough, you think I could hang?

Whose S4 was that? I can;t believe that just a chip could put that much hurt on a 450HP Cayanne... however weight surely played a huge role.

wrong car to whoop up on...Must be giving up at least 2000+ lbs. Stick to racing trucks...there the Cayenne is king except maybe for that dodge p/u srt10

You got killed by weight and drag. I wonder if it would have turned out differently had you tried from a standing start.

Didn't your car start off a full second+ behind in the "few second" run as a result of the hesitation or did you get a good one?

ben, no I was in M with PSM off in 2nd gear at around 45-48MPH. I actually got the hit a little.

But yes, I figured the weight was a major issue. I had no problems running the car when it was stock, especially in my black CT, in which I would pull relatively hard, but that chip really made a big difference!

I am extremely suprised at how affective the GIAC ecu is for an S4

A GIAC X chip will bump the car to about 310hp - it really is a totally different car after chipping. I'm still surprised your friend was able to pull that well - although I suppose there is a huge weight difference. It's possible he was running 100 octane too - the compression ratio in the S4 is rather high and we see large gains from race gas (on a car like mine, we'll see a 100hp difference at the wheels between pump and 100).

GIAC X is known for blowing the K03 turbos quite often though, so tell your friend to take it easy
