spawnywhippet, you caused me to sign up just to thank you for the Bosch part number and what parts to rip off for replacement. If anyone is wondering, the Bosh part comes up much cheaper on searches then when looking at "porsche" parts suppliers. Pretty sure I have 1 or both bad/going bad, so this was a money find.
Glad it was of some help. I am sick of shops ripping people off for completely unnecessary work, or even charging for work that is not being done at all.
Seems to be the norm, rather than the exception in the Bay Area so I do all of my own work now.
I was quoted 10 hours labor and $1000 in parts for a transmission service on my Land Rover. It took me 4 hours at home and $225 in parts the first time I ever did it. The second time would be a lot faster and I don't have the car up on a lift like they would.
Thanks on the Bosch P/N... far less than Porsche and the exact same part as was in the truck already!
One tip i have to add is that on a on a TT it's tight (understatement) to align the sensor and get the bolt started. I was stressed about losing the bolt down into the bowels of german design so I put a piece of thin foam tape on the sensor beside the bolt head. Its soft and thin enough that the socket could engage the bolt head by squishing it aside. It made it much easier to manipulate the sensor with the bolt already pushed
