A lot of the battery threads are quite old, partly because the Cayenne goes back a few years now. There is a lot of misinformation, with people saying smaller battery is OK, etc. I learned, after going through a lot of trouble, that a Gen1 & 2 Cayenne definitively needs an Interstate H9. The exact part number is Interstate MTP-95R/H9. Go to an Interstate dealer and get this battery. This is the correct German made replacement that is identical to OEM. It fills up the battery compartment under the seat, as it was designed to, with no room to spare.
H9 in Cayenne
maybe timely thread...just dig out my notes on batteries. I show that the NAPA Gold AHM H9 is the same...?
Its either the battery, no replacement history available, or the starter that was just replaced
prior to my ownership.
It was both...new Bosch starter was installed by the PO a week before it was traded in. Bendix bearing is junk, completely shot in 3 weeks...500 miles. Sold/installed at a Pa Indy, now I gotta buy another. Interstate H9 installed also...date code on other Interstate was 10/15.
