Why? The listing claims it's made for it.
People used these generic cameras with the Jeep nav all the time with good results. It is also produced by Harmon Becker, the same manufacturer of the porsche unit.

Yeah, its got a weird little plug after about a foot of wire and then the RCA end. That plugs into a little thing and has these tiny tiny wires for your power and ground.
But I've got an aftermarket radio that has an RCA input. Most of the cameras on ebay are all of the same design thrown into various packages. Mine was one of the night vision IR LED ones, I disassembled it for my purposes.

I've used a similar camera off ebay on my head unit, however it is an aftermarket Eclipse AVN726EA. My camera had the same wires as the ebay cam you linked and I just chopped off the RCA connector and manually wired it to the back of the head unit using custom connections (for my unit this was the little metal plugs that I pulled out of some spare computer parts - to be exact it was the little metal clips contained within the plastic plugs that connect a CD/DVD audio to motherboard connector in a PC). I doubt the porsche PCM would be very much different. Just a matter of working out which pins on the back of the unit correspond to the +ve/-ve, power, ground which you could get from a wiring diagram that someone on these forums should have.
The hard part is actually running the wires from the head unit to the camera at the rear of the car. I had to run both power and video cables, as well as a reverse signal light wire so that the camera would automatically switch on when reverse gear was selected.
Took some time - total circa 6hours to install, but it works flawlessly now, and my cam has night vision to boot which is a neat function.

i stumbled onto this thread. i also would like to use a cheapo less than $20 ebay camera. i see many video clips like Crutchfield on using the tail light circuit to power the camera. why is this not a good option? is it the tail light has too much current going to the camera?
Especially when trying to line up the race car trailer
