Cool Starting Problems - 08' Cayenne Turbo

Hi All,

I just picked up an 08' Cayenne Turbo on Wed. My wife says it is taking 5-8 sec to start.

The car is still under warrenty, and just had its 40,000 porsche service.

What could it be?

Batt?
Starter?
Plugs?

Well if you're getting crank rule out the Battery.

If you can hear it cranking over rule out the starter.

Plugs fouling? Not likely if the Cayenne was just serviced, but I would not rule out the "COIL-PACKS", these items start fouling out around 40-50K especially on Turbo models. This will be covered under your warranty.

8 seconds after you just flick the key to the start position and let go?
could be a weak relay in your dash, you can hear it clickin. take it in let
a dealer think on it.

My guess is high pressure fuel pump or related component(s).

Possible, though have not heard of any coilpacks fail on 08+ Cayennes yet, and vehicle would still start on cars that had faulty coil packs, just would idle very rough and hesitate on accelration.

ALL,

Thanks for your input. It was the fuel filter.

Hi all. My 08 Cayenne S has this problem nearly every time....It always starts the second time (sometimes takes a couple more) but I fear it may strand me.

Has anyone had this problem fixed? If so, what was the problem and how much was it? I have an amazing independent mechanic, but he said this kind of problem can only be fixed by the dealer b/c they have proprietary software to diagnose the problem. Help??

I haven't had the problem but, it sounds pretty simple. Get thee to the dealership.
