Got a 2004 Cayenne S. with 82K miles, Check engine light on. ( Coil pack "C", and misfire #3). Checked coils and 6 of them are 948 602 104 0 and cracked, 2 were changed before I got the truck. Called dealer about coils & what I read here, said to bring in vehicle.

Brought in truck today, told me that they will check it out and let me know. Well just got a call back and was told that the deal was up to 80K miles. So now they quote 947 to change out the coils. or 135 diag cost.

What a waste of 135 dollars, Sucks should have just bought coils from rmeuropean for 36 each. that would have been almost 4 coils already.

called (1-800-PORSCHE) they gonna research and call me back about it.

Has anyone had any luck with the reimbursements from Porsche for previous coil replacements? I'm gonna submit an invoice from last year and see what happens...

Original coils means no warranty?

I have 2004 Cayenne with 67k miles. Had exactly same symptoms as described on this thread. So I took my vehicle to Park Place dealer in Dallas. Spent 2 hours there. They accepted the vehicle for warranty replacement of coils and took to their service shop, inspected, opened the coils, etc. Then service advisor came to me to explain that original coils are not covered. Only if the coils were replaced sometime by Porsche and I paid for it, then Porsche extended warranty on it to 100k miles. Since my coils were never replaced, I do not qualify for the warranty replacement. Please see attached their basis for this denial which explains Limited Extended Warranty for the coils. The verbage is kind of ambiguous and can be interpreted either way. Does someone has a document that clearly says original coils are covered to 100k miles? Thank you. Your help is highly appreciated.

Dealer confirmed that my coils are bad causing check engine light and rough running. And the coils will cost me almost $500.

I have an 04 CS too and was told the exact same thing here in Houston. Good thing I had bought an extended warranty which covered replacement for all 8. The advisor said that if I have the issue again, they would be covered under the recall.

Call Porsche Cars of North America and tell them you want to open a claim.

The way I read that same notice was that those series with those numbers were covered; NOT whether or not the defective parts had been replaced.

Sounds like Park Place in Dallas is not a good dealership.

Great advise. Opened a case with Porsche NA.

Thanks a ton for this excellent advise. I have called and opened a case with Porsche. They too told me that it's the part numbers, not whether they were replaced or not are covered. The dealer did tell me because they were never replaces so they are not covered. They did not tell me anything about part numbers what I have vs what is covered. The dealer also told me two things wrong - recommend Spark Plugs change since they were never changed and he sees no record of having them changed with 40Kmiles service. I just opened the invoice and saw they were changed. Also there is an invoice for replacing the Arm rest due to bubble. But bubble is still there. Definitely not a trustworthy dealer. Or, employees are under pressure to some charge money regardless.

Your welcome.

The folks at PCNA treated very well. And I was a real PIA. I was so afraid I was going to lose my engine that I ended up talking to their rep in Atlanta rather than the women who are in Massachusetts.

Do us all a favor and press in making the case that this dealer in BAD.

I had some difficulties in Anchorage but the dealership really came around once PCNA was involved.

Nevertheless, Lyle Pearson Porsche of Boise really is a TERRIBLE DEALERSHIP and I would never own a Porsche if I lived in Idaho!

I still have to write a letter to PCA. You are a member of PCA, right? And I must ask PCA to look into how OFF THE WALL Lyle Pearson and his Porsche of Boise are!

PCNA took care of EVERYTHING and did well by me on their CPO with the sole exception of me replacing the cooling pipes at my own expense in a proactive way BEFORE heading down the Alcan--otherwise, they would have blown in Calgary. But, then, they would have been covered.

I really like my car and hope to keep it on the road for many years.

Sorry to know so many dealers try to rip. I am not a member of PCA yet, but now will become. In the mean-time I have sent all my 4 concerns from one visit today to dealer as well as info@porschecars.com. This is the email address Jessica from PCNA told me to communicate with PCNA. I will keep pressing, will see what happens. Thanks for all your advise.

Interesting. I always communicated by phone AND I wrote one or two letters to their VP of marketing at that time. THEY HATE LETTERS because they are rare.

However, they never offerred me an e-mail address. I wrote down names and dates on all phone calls. Once they assign you a complaint number they do all they can to resolve it.

I had issues with my rear hatch struts TWICE and it got really weird and technical. They gave me a voucher only good at a dealership TOWARDS the repairs. They basically covered costs of parts.

They first repaired and replaced the struts for free BUT then there was no coverage when they went out a second time in less than a year! However, anything you pay for and anything they cover UNDER CPO has two year warranty on parts--but not labor.

STEALERships vary and once you find a good one, you will be back. I'd go to Porsche of Anchorage and Porsche of Bend. I think the key is the Service Representative--if you get a good one, then you are in like flint.

Stay the **** away from Lyle Pearson Porsche of Boise.

Pay the dealer submit to PCNA for reimbursement

New twist to my case. I contacted another dealer (Boardwalk Porsche), they talked to the same person at PCNA and the new story is that I need to pay for replacing those coils, then submit the bill to PCNA. If part is covered as described in the bulletin, then PCNA will reimburse. I asked how long it takes and whether all costs are reimbursed. Answer from PCNA was that she doesn't know. Anyone has same experience? Can anyone chime-in if they did the same and how much did it cost and how much they get paid?

I had my coils replaced about 1.5 years ago, and sent in the bill last year and WAS reimbursed for the entire bill. Sometimes PCNA is great! Other times, like when I was 3 days over my factory CPO warranty and my steering pump blew, they did not offer me anything. Not even a gift certificate. Sometimes PCNA really sucks. I have had 6 Porsches, and after that experience, I will probably never buy another one.
Now that I think about it ... they have spent an unbelievable amount on my car while under CPO. 2 xenon headlights, coils, brake booster pump, drive shaft, height sensor of some sort, coils again, etc. etc.

5-Star service from Autobahn Porsche dealer

After having fooled by Park Place Porsche and Pay-now-reimburse-later demand from Boardwalk in Plano, Autobahn in Fort-worth gave me excellent, fast, no-nonsense service. Quickly in and out. My hats off to them and salute to Beth, Autobahn's service advisor. Beth is very knowledgeable, clear and confident. She gave me very clear diagnosis, possibilities, and terms of how they will service my Cayenne. They took me in right-away - no wait. Diagnosis of my coils in 15 minutes, covered under warranty - no question, no hesitation, no fluff talk. Car fully serviced and fixed within 40 minutes. She also had technicians check the fluids and other car health and reported all as normal. Not much paperwork, no sales pitch or attempt to make more money as opposed to other dealers. My car now runs great. This is my favorite dealer. Though they are 40 miles away, I will always go there. . My sincere thanks to Autobahn. I have special appreciation for them as I have not experienced such a great service ever from any dealer in my life.

Thumbs up to Autobahn and Beth.

Big Thumbs down to Park Place and Boardwalk.

Thanks for the report.

These Bad Dealers need to be exposed like here and the good ones need to be lauded. We all need to know who we can go to who won't rape & pillage us.

Thanks for the report!

Glad it turned out well.

Porsche of Bend is excellent, both the mechanic and service manager are great!

STAY AWAY FROM LYLE PEARSON PORSCHE OF BOISE. Their whole outfit (with the slight and I mean "slight" exception of sales as they never cut reasonable deals) is rotten. Their mechanic was terrible and couldn't diagnose an obvious engine code and a set of malfunctioning turbos! Their service manager threatened to file a FALSE POLICE REPORT that I had stolen (That's right!) the loaner car.

Their owner Lyle Pearson LOST the Porsche dealership once but bought it back.

I really feel for Porsche owners in Idaho. Cayenne and Panamera owners especially are SOL because no one else in the state will touch a Cayenne or a Panamera!

Just for the record, my full name is Dr. John Taylor Kent. I have the email messages and documents to prove everything I say! Go ahead and file against Lyle Pearson if you dare.

Pearson would do Porsche owners a Huge Favor by selling his Porsche dealership! Until then, Porsche is not going to sell well in Idaho.

While PCNA did not cover my coolant pipes because I replaced them proactively just before they would have burst on the Alcan Highway and left me stranded (and they were so worn they would had gone when the "t" joint on the rear of the engine failed in Calgary!), the fact is PCNA spent a ton of money on my car as well while it was under CPO.

There were times when I swore I would never own another Porsche but everytime people ask me what my dream is and what car I would drive if I could choose any car, I just smile. I AM driving my Dream Car! I do not look forward to the day I may have to give her up because Porsche doesn't make them like this anymore.

I guess this shows Porsche owners and Porsche have something in common: We have very high standards.
