guess what came in mail today?
my bodyshop is very reputable, they deal with Porsche, Lambo, etc etc and mostly exotic. You won't see a honda there.
They had to order some parts for me such as the alum trim under the door, headlight washer cap. Alum trm had so much tar and the washer cap was missing from the turbo bumper.
I agree with the point that fiberglass is hard to match with the steel. It also has something to do with the heat that they can put on the fiberglass when they paint it.
So do you suggest for me to wait for a few weeks before I put on the autobahn (3m clear bra)? What is Llumar paint protection?

I've had problems in the past with the clear armor stuff and paint NOT being properly cured before installation. The problem is is that it will lift the paint if it's not properly cured (believe me from experience, it really sucks!).
The recommended time is minimum 4wks.
Llumar is another brand of clear protection film. Really good stuff in my opinion.

Dangers of not letting paint cure properly
Don't know if you can see it, but the clear coat got lifted in this picture and the full adhesive wasn't even activated.
This was 1wk after painting and the installer was just test fitting a piece....
OUCH!

My #1 priority when picking the brand was the ability to "not be seen". I've had 3M on my cars in the past and in my opinion, Llumar acheived this best.
I had the following done: front bumper (nothing on hood), mirrors, headlights, little ledge nr gas filler, 4 splash areas trailing the wheels, and TechArt lower front lip. I'm contemplating doing the whole TA side skirt.
Should be no more than $1300 for all the work (incl. TA front lip and ENTIRE side skirts). Keep in mind, most of the work done is custom work, as there are no kits for these areas (pre-cut kit used for lights and front bumper only).
here are the areas:

Patrick: thanks for the information!! I will tell my bodyshop that I won't get it done as soon as the paint is ready, I want the paint to cure first.
I will contact them and find where is the closest place I can install Llumar! I hope they can do my headlights, it has the Techart cover on it.
Do you curb the wheels? I noticed something on the first picture...

No, never curbed the wheels! That nick is from the tire installers mounting/dismounting the tires...
Nice catch though!
Good luck on your Techart kit, painting, and getting the clear protection. Can't wait to see pics!
